February 2022 begins with a new trip and this one was shorter then the previous ones, I headed out early in Monday morning from Dammam heading to Taif west of Saudi Arabia which is the first stop, after I got passed Riyadh I found that I had good time to photograph the scenes from the highway plus the weather was super clear which motivated me to do so, my trip took 12 hours which is very long for a solo traveler but in the end I find it worth it.

مع بداية فبراير ٢٠٢٢ قمت برحلة جديدة وكانت أقصر من الرحلات السابقة، أنطلقت صباح يوم الإثنين من الدمام بإتجاه الطائف غرب السعودية وهي المحطة الأولى، بعد أن تجازوت الرياض وجدت أنه لدي وقت لابأس به لتصوير المشاهد من على الطريق بالإضافة إلى أن صفاء الجو يحفز لذلك كثيراً، رحلتي استغرقت قرابة ١٢ ساعة متعبة لطولها ولكن في النهاية أجد ما يستحق لذلك.

After arriving late night at Taif I spent 2 nights there which reminds me of my last visit to the city for photography which was in March 2018, in the next day early morning I headed for the central city market and walked around which was almost empty because the shops still didn’t open yet (it was 8 am) but I managed later to meet 2 persons I photographed before & delivered to them printed photos and they were smiling all the time while holding it, one of them was Abu Rakan I spent some time with him telling me about his profession which was passed down to him from his father & grandfather, in the evening I accidentally found an old area which is supposedly one of the oldest in the city according to one of it’s residence & I photographed the area there until before sunset.

بعد وصولي للطائف أمضيت ليلتين في المدينة والتي ذكرتني بزيارتي السابقة لها للتصوير في مارس ٢٠١٨، توجهت صباحاً إلى سوق وسط البلد وتجولت في السوق وهو شبه خالٍ قبل أن تفتح المحلات (قرابة الساعة ٨ صباحاً) وتمكنت من لقاء إثنين من الأشخاص الذين قمت بتصويرهم سابقاً وتسليمهم صور مطبوعة وحقيقة لا أستطيع نقل مشاعرهم إلا أنه كانوا مبتسمين وهم يشاهدون صورهم بين يديهم، أحدهم أبوراكان وأمضيت معه بعض الوقت يحدثني عن محله ومهنته التي ورثها عن والده وجده، في المساء اكتشفت مصادفة بوجود حي يعتبر من الاحياء القديمة في الطائف على حد قول أحد سكانه والمعروف بإسم حي بني سويلم وتجولت في أنحاءه للتصوير حتى قبل المغرب.

In Wednesday morning I headed south to Abha city in Asir Region which will be 2nd stop for resting and sleeping and of course in my was I stopped several times on the road to photographer different scenes, Thursday morning with the fog in Abha I also headed south towards Jazan Region & to be specific to AlHasher Mountain in AlDayer district to visit coffee farm & resort with it’s owner Salman AlHureisi (Abu Sari), I already published a blog post in just a while ago Day at Abu Sari’s coffee farm , I spend 2 great nights with photographing the farm, the valley & the nature around me, also with some small hiking which needs a really fit body, I would like to thank Abu Sari for his hospitality and maybe another visit next year who knows.

في صباح يوم الأربعاء انطلقت جنوباً بإتجاه أبها بمنطقة عسير وهي نقطة التوقف الثانية ولكنها فقط للنوم والراحة وبالطبع توقفت عدة مرات بالطريق لتصوير مختلف المشاهد، صباح يوم الخميس مع ضباب أبها توجهت أيضاً جنوباً إلى منطقة جازان وبالتحديد جبال الحشر بمحافظة الداير لزيارة مزرعة الهديهدة لصاحبها سلمان الحريصي ابوساري وهي مزرعة للبن الخولاني السعودي وكذلك منتجع مفتوح للزوار بعد التنسيق أبوساري، نشرت تدوينة عنها من السابق يوم في مزرعة أبوساري للبن الخولاني السعودية، أمضيت ليلتين رائعتين هناك تخللها تصوير الوادي والمزرعة وكذلك التجول في الوادي في مغامرة جميلة وتحتاج إلى لياقة جيدة وأود أن أشكر ابوساري على حسن ضيافته وكرمه، وربما أقوم بالزيارة مرة اخرى في السنة القادمة مي لا نعلم.

After a long trip on the road from AlHasher mountains in Jazan region until reaching the capital city Riyadh I arrived Saturday after midnight & I was exhausted so I slept & rested in the morning without going out to regain my energy, in the evening I decided to go out to one of the modern streets in Riyadh & ended up on AlOlaya St. which has large sidewalk (almost empty from people) while asking myself why all of this? But I was discovering new sights & I didn’t get much results which is fine by me, the next day was a cold & refreshing I went out early on to AlBatha area to photograph the people shadows from inside the markets & I had really nice results from this walk (will post them later in a separate post).

بعد رحلة طويلة على الطريق من جبال الحشر بمنطقة جازان ووصولاً إلى العاصمة الرياض وصلت متأخراً بعد منتصف الليل من يوم السبت وكنت منهكاً لذا اخذت قسطاً من الراحة ولم أخرج الصباح التالي لكي أستعيد شيء من طاقتي، في المساء قررت الخروج على أحد الشوارع الحديثة ووجدت نفسي على شارع العليا ذو أرصفة حديثة وكبيرة (شبه خاوية) وأنا أسأل نفسي لمن كل هذا؟ ولكنها كانت جولة استكشافية جديدة لي ولم أخرج إلا بصورة أو اثنتين، باليوم التالي كان بارداً ومنعشاً خرجتُ صباحاً مبكراً إلى منطقة البطحاء وبدأت بالتجول هناك قبل فتح معظم المحلات والتقاط ظلال الناس من داخل الأسواق وكانت الجولة بنتائج مرضية (سأقوم بنشرها في تدوينة منصفة لاحقاً).

With this I ended up my trip before getting ready to go back to Dammam in the Eastern Province, what’s interesting that this road trip is one of the shortest ones comparing it with the last few ones which took 8 days & it was pretty tough considering that 3 days was spent on the road traveling from one city to another (12 hour from Dammam to Taif – 9 hours from Taif to Abha – 14 hour from AlHasher Mountain in Jazan region to Riyadh) Thank you all for reading to this point and stay tune for another trip hopefully later this year.

وبذلك أنهيت رحلتي استعداداً للعودة للدمام بالمنطقة الشرقية، المثير للاهتمام أن هذه واحدة من أقصر رحلاتي في السنوات الماضية والذي استغرقت ٨ أيام وكانت متعبة بحيث أمضيت قرابة ٣ أيام بالتنقل بين المدن (١٢ ساعة من الدمام إلى الطائف – ٩ ساعات من الطائف إلى أبها – ١٤ ساعة من جبال الحشر بجازان إلى الرياض) شكراً لمتابعتكم وإلى رحلات اخرى ربما لاحقاً هذه السنة.
