في أحد أزقة حي الدواسر في مدينة الدمام يجتمع بشكل دوري ويومي مجموعة من كبار السن والمتقاعدين عن العمل في غرفة صغيرة في أحد البيوت الشعبية، يلعبون الورق ويشربون الشاي ويتبادلون الأحاديث والأخبار عن بعضهم البعض وأحياناً أحدهم يجلب معه وجبة من المنزل ليتناولوها سوياً, جميعهم عاشوا في صغرهم في هذا الحي قبل أن يتفرقون في أحياء أخرى بمنازل جديدة ولكنهم مع ذلك يلتقون هنا بشكل مستمر متمسكين بالمكان الذي احتضن أهاليهم وطفولتهم

In of the alleys of AlDawaser Area in Dammam city a group of old men & retired men gather daily in this small room in one of the old heritage houses, they play card, drink tea and catch up on their life, also sometimes one of them bring a homemade meal so they can all eat together. All of them at some point lived & grew up in this area before all of them scatter to different areas with new houses but even so they still continue to meet in the place that their childhood once held it.

عندما كنت متواجداً هناك على مدى يومين كان في تلك الغرفة ما يقارب ٩ أشخاص ولكن على حد قولهم أن عدد الذين يأتون هنا عادة قرابة ١٥ شخص، يجتمعون من بعد صلاة العصر وحتى بعد صلاة العشاء.

When I was there for 2 days in that room around 9 persons were all together in the same time, they said that there are about 15 persons who usually came here, they gather after noon until the night.

بوخميس أحد كبار السن متقاعد من خطوط السكة الحديدية منذ أكثر من ١٤ سنة بعد خدمة عمل عقود معهم، يقول أن من المواقف الصعبة التي مرت عليه هو عملية إعادة قطار خرج من مساره والذي استغرق العمل به مع زملاءه قرابة أسبوعين وكان القطار يبعد أكثر من ١٠٠ كلم عن الدمام.

Abu Khamis is one of the elders retired from Railroad for more then 14 years after serving for decades, he said that one of the hardest situation that he encountered was getting a train back to its tracks after derailing which took about 2 weeks work with his co-workers in a location 100km away from Dammam.

وهناك أيضاً بوناصر يقول أنه عمل كهربائي حر منذ بداية شبابه ولأكثر من ٤٠ سنة، كان يختص في عمل تمديدات الكيابل والأسلاك في المنازل وأحياناً بعض العمارات السكنية، توقف عن العمل لكبر سنه قبل ما يقارب ١٠ سنوات، يقول أن كان لديه ١٢ ابن وابنة ولكن توفي منهم ٤ في ظروف مختلفة وأحدهم كان أبنه الأكبر الذي كان يدير محل خاص به للعدد الكهربائية والسباكة، تولى بوناصر المحل بعد وفاته ولكنه قام ببيعه بعد فترة وجيزة فقط.

There is Also Abu Nasser says he worked as a freelance electrician for 40 years since he was a teenager, he specialized in electrical foundations & wiring for houses & sometime for bigger buildings, he stopped working about 10 years ago. He says he used to have 12 children between a boy & a girl but 4 of them died in different circumstances and one of them was his oldest son who owned an electrical & plumping tools, Abu Nasser took in charge of the shop but he sold it after a while.
