Women in Addis Ababa

One of the things that attracted me in Addis Ababa streets in Ethiopia are the variety of how women wear since it has a mix religion between Christian, Islam and others, so in my walks I was focusing in that point, some was wearing traditional clothes while others were wearing colorful clothes, these are some of what I’ve managed to capture.

أحد الأشياء التي جذبتني في شوارع أديس أبابا في أثيوبيا هو تنوع مظاهر النساء في المدينة وهذا يعود إلى أن الدولة بها أكثر من ديانة مثل الإسلام والمسيحية، لذا في خلال جولاتي كنت أركز على هذه النقطة بعضهم كان يلبس الملابس التقليدية والاخر كان يلبس ملابس ملونة جذابة، وهذه بعض ما أستطعت إلتقاطه.

The Blue Taxi in Addis Ababa Streets

In my trip to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia I noticed that the most of the taxi’s color are blue, unlike the famous yellow color for taxi, one of the car make are an old Russian car called Lada which can be found a lot in the city but I was told that there is a future plan from the government to replace this line of cars which some consider it as an iconic thing to Addis.

في خلال رحلتي إلى أديس أبابا في أثيوبيا لاحظت أن معظم سيارات الأجرة هناك باللون الأزرق اختلافاً عن اللون الأصفر المشهور في بعض البلدان، أحد هذه السيارات هي سيارة قديمة روسية وتسمى لادا والتي يمكن أن تجدها كثيراً بالمدينة ولكن قيل لي أن الحكومة تخطط مستقبلاً لإستبدال هذه السيارات على الرغم من أن البعض يعتبر هذه السيارة أيقونة وهوية معروفة للمدينة.

The Beetle in Addis Ababa Streets

In my walks in the street of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia I’ve never imagined to see a lot of one of the most iconic small & classic car in the world which is the 1971-1973 Volkswagen Beetle, I didn’t put my focus onto photographing this car in my walks but most of the time it happened that I just ran across of them so I can’t resist my self to photograph them.

في جولاتي في شوارع أديس أبابا في دولة أثيوبيا لم أكن أتخيل أنني سأرى واحدة من أكثر السيارات الكلاسيكية الصغيرة المشهورة وهي سيارة فولكس واجن بيتل، واقعاً لم أضع تركيزي على تصويرها بشكل كبير ولكنني فقط كنت أراها مصادفة في خلال جولاتي اليومية ولا أستطيع منع نفسي من القيام بتصويرها.

Last December I went on a street photography trip to Ethiopia, I only visited the capital which was Addis Ababa, I’ve wrote & published photos from my trip n a previous post you can check it out here “My 6 days trip to Addis Ababa“, in this post I’m gonna share more photos from my trip mostly daily life photos from the old areas in the city.

في ديسمبر الماضي سافرت في رحلة لتصوير حياة الشارع إلى دولة أثيوبيا، قمت بزيارة العاصمة أديس أبابا، كتبت عن رحلتي بشكل مفصل وانطباعي مع بعض الصور من الرحلة في تدوينة سابقة شاهدها هنا “رحلة الستة أيام إلى أديس أبابا” في هذه التدوينة سأقوم بنشر صور أكثر من الرحلة وأغلبها هي صور من الحياة اليومية في المدينة في المناطق القديمة.

AlDawaser Room – Story 015

في أحد أزقة حي الدواسر في مدينة الدمام يجتمع بشكل دوري ويومي مجموعة من كبار السن والمتقاعدين عن العمل في غرفة صغيرة في أحد البيوت الشعبية، يلعبون الورق ويشربون الشاي ويتبادلون الأحاديث والأخبار عن بعضهم البعض وأحياناً أحدهم يجلب معه وجبة من المنزل ليتناولوها سوياً, جميعهم عاشوا في صغرهم في هذا الحي قبل أن يتفرقون في أحياء أخرى بمنازل جديدة ولكنهم مع ذلك يلتقون هنا بشكل مستمر متمسكين بالمكان الذي احتضن أهاليهم وطفولتهم

In of the alleys of AlDawaser Area in Dammam city a group of old men & retired men gather daily in this small room in one of the old heritage houses, they play card, drink tea and catch up on their life, also sometimes one of them bring a homemade meal so they can all eat together. All of them at some point lived & grew up in this area before all of them scatter to different areas with new houses but even so they still continue to meet in the place that their childhood once held it.

Hello all, last December I visited Hail city which is my 2nd visit, I heard about the Friday Market which a weekly market in Hail so I wanted to visit and documented it, I got up early in a very cold morning & went there before sunrise and was surprised by the number of people who wear already there, even with the darkness & the cold weather, it had the bird market & lots of other stuff & clothes too, and I can’t forgot the kindness & generosity of the people.

مرحبا جميعاً، في شهر ديسمبر الماضي قمت بزيارة مدينة حائل وهي زيارتي الثانية لها، سمعت بسوق يوم الجمعة الأسبوعي في المدينة وأردت الذهاب إليه لتصويره وتوثيقه، لذا استيقظت مبكراً جداً في الجو البارد وتوجهت هناك قبل شروق الشمس وكنت متفاجئاً من عدد الناس المتواجدة هناك مسبقاً على الرغم من أن المكان مظلم والجو بارد جداً، السوق كان يحتوي على سوق الطيور بالإضافة إلى الكثير من الأغراض الاخرى والملابس كذلك، أوه ولا أستطيع أن أنسى كرم وطيبة أهلها.

Hello all, today I’m gonna publish photos from a city I visited once in 2014 which is Safwa city which is part from Qatif and posted Day 21 – Safwa it was a bit late re-visit but it’s all worth it, met a lot of people there and love how they reacted to camera, also the random alleys & streets never gets old for me.

مرحبا جميعاً، اليوم سأقوم بنشر صور من مدينة قمت بزيارتها في عام ٢٠١٤ وهي مدينة صفوى التابعة لمحافظة القطيف وقمت بنشر تدوينة اليوم ٢١ – صفوى كانت الزيارة متأخرة ولكنها تستحق تماماً، إلتقيت بكثير من الأشخاص هناك وكانوا سعيدين برؤية شخص حامل للكاميرا وتفاعلوا بشكل لطيف، أيضاً الممرات الضيقة والشوارع العشوائية أبداً تبقى منعشة لي.

Elder’s details 4 – People’s life

An old man from AlHasa, Saudi Arabia which I met during a street photowalk, sometime I just take photographs of an old man not for a story, but for the the details that his expression, it makes us just observe how the long years made those little details.

رجل مسن من الأحساء إلتقيت به أثناء جولة تصوير لحياة الشارع، أحياناً أقوم بإلتقاط صور لرجال كبار في السن ليس من أجل قصة ما، ولكن من أجل تلك التفاصيل التي يملكها على ملامحه، تجعلنا نتأمل بشدة كيف قامت تلك السنين الطويلة في صنع هذه التفاصيل.

Hello all, today is I take you back to one of the villages in Qatif, which is called AlKhuwaildiyah, I visited this area twice in 2 different years, so I chose to publish from both visits, because they both have interesting scene. AlKhuwaildiyah village is rather small but interesting in some places, the center of it has a dry old well & some spots have colorful graffiti.

مرحبا جميعاً، اليوم نعود إلى أحد القرى من القطيف، قرية الخويلدية. قمت بزيارة هذه القرية مرتين في سنتين مختلفتين، لذلك قررت نشر صور من كلتا الزيارتين لأنه الاثنتين كانت بهما نتائج ومشاهد مثيرة للاهتمام، وسط القرية يحتوي على بئر قديمة جافة وبعض الجدران تحتوي على رسومات جرافيتي جميلة.
