Manama Central 3 – street photography

Few days ago I’ve visited Bahrain for some personal stuff & took some time for a walk in Manama Central and every time I go there I find myself lost between it’s ally’s, my last visit to Bahrain was 10 months ago which was not by choice, I just had some personal reasons not to go. Anyway my walk there lasted for an hour & I feel like every time I go there I just get lost, because I arrived a bit late then the usual time the sun has set so I had some chance for a few night images.

قبل عدة أيام قمت بزيارة للبحرين لأمور شخصية واستغليت بعض الوقت في جولة تصوير في سوق المنامة والذي يبدو في كل مرة أقوم بزيارته أجد نفسي تائهاً في ممراته، كانت اخر زيارة للبحرين قبل ١٠ شهور وانقطعت عن زياراتي المعتادة لأسباب شخصية، على كل حال جولتي كانت لمدة ساعة فقط وأشعر بالضياع بعض الشيء في كل زيارة، بسبب أنني وصلت متأخراً على الوقت المعتاد بالنهار، غربت الشمس وأصبحت لدي الفرصة لإلتقاط بعض الصور الليلية والتي ظهرت بشكل جيد.

The Tailor Uncle Ali from Najran – story 019

العم علي بن محمد آل عبدالله والمعروف بإسم بن سروان من سكان مدينة نجران جنوب السعودية يعمل في مهنة الخياطة وبالتحديد خياطة الزي النجراني التراثي الرجالي والنسائي ويقع محله الصغير بالقرب من سوق الجنابي الشعبي

Ali bin Mohammad Al Abdullah also known as Bin Sirwan from Najran city South of Saudi works as a tailor specially for the traditional clothing in Najran and his small shop is located near AlJanabi Market

امتهن العم علي هذه المهنة لأكثر من ٦٠ سنة وقد ورثها عن والده ووالدته بجانب أخواته في ذلك الوقت

Uncle Ali has worked as a tailor for over 60 years saying that he inherited this profession from his father & mother along side his sisters at that time

يقوم العم علي بحياكة الزي النجراني الرجالي والتي تسمى المزندة والمذيل وأما الزي النسائي يسمى المكممة والمعضد، الخياطة كما يصفها العم علي إما بشكل يدوي أو بإستخدام ماكينة الخياطة حيث يقوم بخياطة زي رجالي بالكامل خلال أسبوع إذا قام بالعمل بشكل يدوي بالكامل ولكنه يمكن الانتهاء منه خلال ساعات إذا استخدم الماكينة

Uncle Ali makes different kind of traditional clothing known in Najran history for both men & women and each cloth has a different name, and he describes that it can be sewed manually by a needle or by the sewing machine also adding if he used the manual way it can take up to a whole week to finish one adult traditional cloth and only needs a few hours if he used the sewing machine

يذكر العم علي أن الخياطة اليدوية عمرها أطول وجودتها أفضل لذ لا يزال عليها الطلب بشكل مستمر خصوصاً أن شهرة العم علي منتشرة بين أبناء المنطقة نظراً لتميز خياطته قديماً في التطريز بدقة عالية، لدى العم عدد من الأبناء والبنات وذكر أنه أحد أولاده يحب هذه المهنة ويقوم التعلم بشكل مستمر منه على الرغم من مجال دراسته في التمريض.

Uncle Ali mentioned that if done manually the quality & the life time of the cloth is very high that’s way they are still in demand specially because of his old reputation among the residence of Najran city in his detailed work on the cloth, Uncle Ali has one of his kids who is currently studying to be a nurse and like to learn sewing from time to time so he can inherit the profession of his family.

Taif Central Market 2 – Street photography

Hello again, my last visit to Taif city west of Saudi Arabia was for delivering printed photos in AlBalad Market, so I invested my time which was in the morning to capture the scenes for street photography, got a few good shots & managed to deliver the printed photos too.

مرحبا مرة اخرى، زيارتي الأخيرة لمدينة الطائف غرب السعودية كانت من أجل تسليم صور مطبوعة في سوق البلد، لذا استثمرت وقتي في القيام بجولة صباحية لإلتقاط مشاهد حياة الشارع، حصلت على بعض الصور الجيدة وتمكنت أيضاً من تسليم الصور المطبوعة.

Hello all, new post for my Saudi Street project & it’s also from AlHasa, I went to the weekly Sunday market in AlQarah village once before and published it in Day 56 – AlHasa so I had to make another visit to document the status of the market considering the the municipality has started building the new traditional look market for the village & it’s supposedly to be finish soon, it’s definitely a good attraction for the village, because I arrived the night before the market day I had the chance to visit it very early in the morning when vendors starting to set up their spaces & eat breakfast.

مرحبا جميعاً، تدوينة جديدة لأجل مشروع حياة الشارع السعودي وهي أيضاً من الأحساء، ذهبت إلى سوق الأحد الأسبوعي في قرية القارة مسبقاُ وقمت بنشر تدوينة عنها في اليوم ٥٦ – الأحساء لذا شعرت بأن علي القيام بزيارة اخرى لتوثيق الحالة الحالية للسوق خصوصاً أن الأمانة قررت أخيراً البدء بعملية بناء السوق الشعبي للقرية والذي بكل تأكيد سيكون له تأثير جذب للسياح للقرية، بسبب أنني وصلت الأحساء في الليلة السابقة ليوم السوق استطعت الوصول مبكراً جداً في الصباح لرؤية الباعة وهم يجهزون مساحاتهم الخاصة للبيع وأيضاً تناول وجبة الإفطار قبل وصول الزبائن.

Hello all, back to the Eastern Region to publish what remains in my archive for the Saudi Street Project, I visited AlHasa at the heart of Hofuf city for an old and known area, when I arrived at the much older part which are mostly ruined & demolished which made feel sad deep inside, I’ve seen lots of this before but for some reason I felt emotional as if the places screams without a sound, continued to walk more until I reached the more lively part which most of the photos that I captured from there.

مرحبا بالجميع، عودة للمنطقة الشرقية لنشر ما تبقى لدي من الأرشيف لمشروع حياة الشارع السعودي، قمت بزيارة محافظة الأحساء وسط مدينة الهفوف لزيارة حي قديم ومعروف وهو حي النعاثل، وصلت من الناحية الأقدم في الحي وكان هناك الكثير من المنازل المهجورة والمهدمة وهذا الذي وبدون سابق انذار جعلني أشعر بالحزن تجاه هذا المكان، رأيت مثل هذه المشاهد عدة مرات ولكن لسبب ما كنت عاطفياً تجاه هذا الحي وكأن المكان يصرخ بدون صوت، تابعت طريقي حتى وصلت إلى الجزء الأكثر حياة وكانت معظم النتائج منها.

Camel Market in Najran – 2nd visit

In my 2 weeks road trip to the south of Saudi Arabia I’ve visited Najran and got back to the Camel Market which I published post for my visit back in 2018, only to be surprised that the market have been moved to a new location which is 45 min away by the car from the original location, the good thing I’ve reached the market early on so I can reach it easily early morning for the morning auction & market, when I arrived to the auction site I was shooting with 2 cameras which is something I rarely do, I had my x100s on my neck all the time, and have the 5Diii on my wrist switching lenses between the 24mm & 85mm depending on the scene, it was tough but rewarding! like always I don’t publish all the photos just a handful of them.

في رحلتي البرية التي امتدت إسبوعين في جنوب السعودية قمت بزيارة نجران والعودة إلى سوق الإبل والذي قمت بنشر تدوينة عن زيارتي لهذا السوق في عام ٢٠١٨، تفاجأت بأن السوق قد تم تغيير مكانه ونقله إلى موقع يبعد قرابة ٤٥ دقيقة بالسيارة من الموقع القديم، الأمر الجيد أنني استطعت الوصول للسوق في وقت مبكر من رحلتي لكي أستطيع الوصول بسهولة في الصباح الباكر وقت حراج الإبل، عندما وصلت هناك كنت أقوم بالتصوير بكاميرتين وهو ما أقوم به نادراً، كانت الفوجي اكس ١٠٠ على رقبتي معلقة والكانون فايف دي مربوطة على ساعد يدي وأقوم بالتبديل بين عدستين ٢٤مم و٨٥مم اعتمادً على المشهد، كان الأمر شاقاً ولكن مجزي! كالعادة أقوم بنشر بعض النتائج وليس جميعها.

Hello all, this will be the last blog post from Jazan for the Saudi Street Project for now, I visited the Monday market in Jazan Region which happened to be in Samtah, I arrived there in the early morning with lots of heat & humidity even though it’s October which made me not take too long in this photo walk, the market was really impressive containing lots of local merchandise & local vegetables along with a small bird market, even though the walk didn’t last long I end up catching great images.

مرحبا جميعاً، هذه ستكون اخر تدوينة من أجل مشروع حياة الشارع السعودي للوقت الحالي، قمت بزيارة سوق الإثنين الأسبوعي في منطقة جازان والذي يكون في محافظة صامطة، وصلت هناك مبكراً في الصباح كالعادة واستقبلتني الحرارة والرطوبة العالية على الرغم من أنه شهر اكتوبر وهو ما جعلني أقوم بهذه الجولة في وقت أقل من المعتاد، من ناحية اخرى السوق كان مبهراً ويحتوي على الكثير من البضائع المتنوعة محلياً ولا يخلوا من الخضار والفواكه المحلية بجانب قسم صغير لسوق الطيور، على الرغم من الجولة القصيرة نسبياً إلا أنني خرجت بكثير من الصور الرائعة.

Hello all, another post from Jazan for my Saudi Street project but this time it’s from the old area in Jazan city, back in 2016 I photographed near it which was Day 49 – Jazan and after getting back 7 years later I had to visit the area twice in order to photograph and document as much as I can, I met some interesting people there & seen a lot of really good scenes.

مرحبا بالجميع، تدوينة اخرى من جازان لمشروع حياة الشارع السعودية ولكن هذه المرة من الأحياء القديمة بمدينة جازان، في عام ٢٠١٦ قمت بزيارة وتصوير حي مجاور له وكان ذلك في يوم ٤٩ – جازان وبعد العودة بقرابة ٧ سنوات كان لابد لي من زيارة هذه الأحياء مرتين لكي أتمكن من التصوير والتوثيق بالقدر المستطاع، قابلت الكثير من الناس المثيرة للإهتمام وشاهدت العديد من المشاهد الجيدة.

12 hours on the streets of AlHasa

In Saturday 10th of September 2022 a world wide event for street photographers under is the name (24 Hour Project) is held for the 10th year, 24 hour project is an event for documenting daily life and sharing 1 photo each hour in the day for 24 hour. Each photographer begins shooting at their city local time at 12 am, anyone can join the event either with a professional camera or just a mobile camera. This is my 4th participation with this project and this time I decided to do it in AlHasa since I already photographed in Dammam twice in 2015 & 2016 and in Qatif in 2019, anyway it’s a great experience to any street photographers (real ones), I planned my walk to be in several areas in AlHasa since it has lots of options, I started off at 5 am in the morning in a weekly market in one of the villages then I headed to down town Hofuf city until 10 am & stopped there because the weather was really getting hot, returned to photograph at 2:30 pm from the old areas in Mubarraz city until sunset when I switched back to down town Hofuf untill 8 pm when I called it a day publishing in my Saudi Street Instagram 12 photos for that day. So here 30+ photos captured in that day for the project, hopefully next year will be in a different city who knows!

في يوم السبت ١٠ سبتمبر ٢٠٢٢ كان هناك حدث عالمي لمصوري حياة الشارع تحت اسم (مشروع ٢٤ساعة) يقام للسنة العاشرة، مشروع ٢٤ ساعة حدث يهتم بتوثيق الحياة اليومية والانسانية بشكل عام ومشاركة صورة ١ لكل ساعة تم تصويرها لمدة ٢٤ ساعة في يوم واحد. كل مصور يبدأ التصوير في مدينته حسب التوقيت المحلي بعد منتصف الليل مباشرة، الكل يستطيع الانضمام لهذا المشروع سواء بكاميرا احترافية أو كاميرا جوال. هذه هي مشاركتي الرابعة مع هذا المشروع وهذه المرة قررت التوجه إلى محافظة الأحساء بما أنني قمت بالتصوير في الدمام مرتين في عام ٢٠١٥ و ٢٠١٦ وقمت بالتصوير في محافظة القطيف في عام ٢٠١٩، على أية حال كان ولا زال تعتبر تجربة رائعة لأي مصور حياة شارع، خطط جولاتي في عدة أماكن في الأحساء بما أن الخيارات كانت كثيرة لدي، بدأت الساعة الخامسة فجراً في الصباح في السوق الأسبوعي بقرية الحليلة وبعد ذلك توجهت إلى وسط الهفوف بالقرب من سوق القيصرية واستمريت في التصوير حتى الساعة العاشرة قبل الظهر وتوقفت بسبب حرارة الجو العالية، عدت للتصوير مرة الاخرى بعد الظهر في الساعة الثانية والنصف ظهراً وتوجهت إلى الأحياء القديمة في المبرز والقريبة من سوق الأربعاء الشعبي وهي عدة أحياء: المقابل والقديمات والشَعَبة والعيوني واستمريت في التجول هناك والبعض عن مشاهد لتصويرها حتى قبل مغيب الشمس وأخيراً عدت مرة اخرى إلى وسط الهفوف وتجولت في شوارعها ليلاً حتى الساعة الثامنة مساءً وعندها قررت التوقف وانهاء الجولة بسبب التعب، وقمت في تلك الأوقات نشر ١٢ صورة على تمثل صورة لكل ساعة قمت بالتجول بها في حسابي على تطبيق الانستغرام. لذا هنا سأعرض لكم أكثر من ٣٠ صورة إلتقطتها في ذلك اليوم من أجل المشروع، على أمل أن تكون المشاركة في العام المقبل في محافظة أو مدينة مختلفة، ربما!

Hello all, posting from Jazan Region for the first time in a while for the Saudi Street Project, I woke up early on Sunday and drove to Ahad AlMasarihah south of Abu Arish city to visit the weekly market, I was surprised to see a large area for the sheep & cows market which are away a few mins driving from main market, so I started photographing there because I rarely see hordes of cows in markets like this, I spent about hour & half there before driving the main market where I just took a quick half an hour walk but was very pleased with the results.

مرحبا بالجميع، عودة للنشر من منطقة جازان للمرة الأولى منذ فترة طويلة لأجل مشروع حياة الشارع السعودي، استيقظت مبكراً في يوم الأحد وتوجهت إلى محافظة أحد المسارحة الواقعة جنوب محافظة أبوعريش لزيارة السوق الشعبي الأسبوعي، تفاجأت بالمساحة الكبيرة التي كان يغطيها سوق الماشية وبشكل مختلف كان هناك قسم للأبقار بجانب الأغنام وهو ما لا أراه بشكل معتاد لذا بدأت تصوير من هنا وتجولت حوالي ساعة ونصف قبل الذهاب إلى السوق الرئيسي للبضائع والذي يبعد بضعة دقائق عن طريق السيارة واخذت جولة نصف ساعة فقط ولكنني كنت راضي عن النتائج.
