Hello all and back at publishing more from my Street Life in Saudi Arabia Project and I apologize for not sharing much in the last weeks, anyway I had the chance to visit the heritage market in Nu’ayeiyah city which is located north of the Eastern Province, the market is called the women market because 99% of the sellers there are women and some are experienced old women, some of things sold there are handcraft like carpets and there are different kind of mixed spices they make and they produce natural food oil and a lot of other things, the idea of women selling in the market was old but starting to fade away in the last decade and found a lot in the big cities that’s why the market is special and attract people from different cities. I visited in a rainy and light day so I only took just a few photos but hope you like them.

مرحبا بالجميع وعودة للنشر لمشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية وأعتذر عن قلة النشر في الفترة الماضية، على كل حال كانت لدي الفرصة في أن أقوم بزيارة السوق الشعبي في محافظة النعيرية بالمنطقة الشرقية والتي تقع تقريباً بشمال المنطقة، السوق معروف بإسم سوق النساء لأن معظم إن لم يكن جميع العاملين فيه من النساء من ذوي الخبرة الطويلة وبعضهم من كبار السن أيضاً، بعض مما يباع في هذا السوق من الصناعات الحرفية اليدوية مثل صناعات السدو بمختلفها لأهل البادية والصناعات التراثية وإنتاج السمن الطبيعي والإقط (حليب مجفف) بالإضافة إلى بعض البهارات الخاصة الذي يحضرونها، فكرة أن النساء يبيعون في مثل هذه الأسواق هي موجودة منذ القدم ولكنها بدأت بالإختفاء في العقد الأخير خصوصاُ في المدن الكبيرة لذلك هذا السوق يجذب الناس إليه من مختلف المدن. كانت زيارتي في يوم ممطر وخفيف لذلك لم تكن هناك الكثير من الصور أتمنى أن تحوز على إعجابكم.

Jameed (the white thing in the small bags) is a bedouin food which is a dry & thick goat milk, mostly seen in the north of Saudi Arabia and also known in some Jordan parts

إقط (الشيء الأبيض الموجود في الأكياس الصغيرة) هو طعام بدوي يتم صنعه عن طريق تجفيف الحليب الكثيف، ينتشر في شمال المملكة بشكل أكبر وفي بعض مناطق مملكة الأردن كذلك

On the open space in front of shops, I saw some women on the floor with a few traditional things to sell and in the photos above are two organic containers made from animals skin which one used to preserve food oil and the other used to preserve drinking water

في المساحة المفتوحة أمام المحلات، رأيت هناك بعض النساء يفترشون الأرض ببعض السلعة التقليدية لديهم للبيع مثل ما هو موضح في الصور أعلاه نوعين من الحافظات العضوية التي تصنع من جلود الحيوان واحدٍ منها يستخدم لحفظ سمن الغنم ويسمى العَكة والنوع الاخر يستخدم لحفظ ماء الشرب ويسمى قِربة

This photo taken from inside one of the shops for an old women siting which was a costumer while one her family waiting in the car, she had many requests so the funny thing is I had to stay inside the shop until she’s done & gone

هذه الصورة مأخوذة من داخل احدى المحلات لإمرأة كبيرة في السن جالسة وكانت زبونة معتادة للمكان بينما كان شخص من عائلتها ينتظرها بالسيارة، الأمر الطريف الذي حصل هو أنني لم أستطع الخروج من داخل المحل حتى انتهت هذه السيدة من عدة طلبات طرحتها على صاحبة المكان
