So I found something in my archive which for some reason I didn’t share it before, back in 2017 I had a visit to a festival in the sea front in Dammam which is something I don’t do (going to festivals), anyhow there was a whole section for different craftsman from different gulf countries and one of them was Ibrahim AlFaikkawi Abu Mohammed from Kuwait who came upon invitation for the festival.

كنت أبحث في أرشيفي ووجدت مجلداً لسبب ما لم أقم بمشاركة الصور التي تحتويه من قبل، في عام ٢٠١٧ كانت لدي زيارة لمهرجان الساحل الشرقي في الواجهة البحرية في الدمام وأنا شخصياً لست من الأشخاص الذي يحب زيارة المهرجانات أبداً، على كل حال كان هناك قسم خاص بالحرفيين وكانوا من عدة دول من الخليج وكان أحدهم النوخذة إبراهيم الفيلكاوي أبومحمد من دولة الكويت والذي جاء عبرة دعوة للحضور للمشاركة في المهرجان.

Abu Mohammed is a shipbuilder for sailing ships since he was a teenager and along the way when they stopped building sailing ships he started making small models with amazing details, he’s specialized in Arabian sailing ships which were used for decades in the Arabian Gulf but can he make any kind of non-Arabian ships.

أبومحمد هو صانع سفن القديمة (السفن الشراعية الخليجية) منذ أن كان مراهقاً وعلى مر الوقت أصبح يصنع نماذج مصغرة من هذه السفن بتفاصيل مذهلة، تخصصه يقع في السفن الخليجية والتي كانت تستخدم لعقود في الخليج العربي لكنه يستطيع صنع أي سفينة شراعية اخرى.

He had his first exhibition for his work in 1968 in the AlMubarkiah Market in Kuwait, Abu Mohammed say’s that he went to study to America and while there he joined a club for this kind of profession and then graduated in 1980.

أقام أول معرض خاص به في عام ١٩٦٨ في سوق المباركية الشهير في الكويت، يقول أبومحمد أنه ذهب للدراسة في أمريكا وأثناء ذلك إنضم إلى نادي متخصص في هذه الحرفة، تخرج من الدراسة في عام ١٩٨٠.

Abu Mohammed family and himself in the past were all sailors and that’s how he got in this kind of profession specially from his uncle according to him, Abu Mohammed is in his early 70s and still build & make model ships for any kind and you can find him in his Instagram account.

عائلة أبومحمد وهو شخصياً كانوا بحارين (نواخذة) في الماضي وهذا ما جعله في هذه الحرفة وبالأخص من خاله، أبومحمد الان في السبعينيات ولا يزال يصنع نماذج السفن الشراعية (الله يطول بعمره) وتستطيعون الوصول إلى حسابه في الانستغرام من هنا.
