في أحد زاويا سوق الجنابي بمدينة نجران جنوب السعودية، تقع ورشة صغيرة يعمل بها أبوغالب، صالح فرج بوطهيف حداد ورثة هذه المهنة من والده قبل ٤٠ عام وهي مهنة متوارثة في العائلة، جاء قبل ٢٠ سنة من محافظة حضرموت باليمن إلى مدينة نجران بداعي الاستفادة من مهنته كـ حداد في المدينة.

In one of the corners of AlJanabi Market in Najran city South of Saudi Arabia, there located a small workshop where Abu Ghalib works, Saleh Faraj is a blacksmith who inherited his profession from his late father 40 years ago, he came from Hadhramaut which is a province in Yemen to Najran 20 years ago to work as blacksmith in the city.

يتخصص أبوغالب في حدادة الخناجر التقليدية التي تربط في الخصر لأهل جنوب السعودية واليمن والمعروف بـإسم جنبية وأيضاً بشكل قليل جداً السيوف، ويذكر أنه يستخدم الحديد والفضة في صناعة النصل وكلما زادت نقاوة الفضة المستخدم إرتفع سعر المنتج النهائي بشكل ملحوظ حيث يتراوح أسعار الجنبية من ٤٠٠ ريال حتى ٢٠ ألف ريال في الأسواق ويرتفع السعر بشكل كبير بجودة الرأس والذي يكون مصنوع من قرن الحيوانات كالغزال.

Abu Ghalib is specialized in making traditional daggers which a person hold it in their waist also known for the local people in South of Saudi Arabia & Yemen as “Janbya” he also makes swords but the request for that is very low, he uses iron & sliver to forge the blade for the dagger, the more the quality of the sliver used the higher the price for the final product which are usually rated from 400 SR up to 20,000 SR in the market & it gets higher if the head of the blade is made from animal horns like a deer.

يذهب أبوغالب مرتين في السنة إلى اليمن لزيارة زوجته وأبناءه البالغ عددهم ٥ أولاد و٦ بنات وجميعهم متزوجين بإستثناء إبن واحد، ٣ من أبناءه ورثوا مهنته وسلكوا نفس طريقه في اليمن، ولديه ولد واحد يعمل في مدينة شرورة والتي تبعد عن ٣٣٠ كيلو من نجران، وأخيراً يخبرني أبوغالب انه يسكن في السعودية في غرفة صغيرة مستأجرة في نجران بالقرب أشقاءه من أهل اليمن.

Abu Ghalib goes twice a year to Yemen to visit his family, he has 5 sons & 6 daughters and all of them are married except for one, also he says that 3 of them have learned from him this profession in Yemen, and has one son working in Saudi in Sharorah city which is 330 km away from Najran city. Finally Abu Ghalib mentions to me that he lives in a small rented room in Najran close to his Yemenis brothers.
