Hello all. It’s a new city and it was an adventure to me as I arrived I had no one there to meet so he can show me the city, which is Yanbu, located north of Jeddah, just a 4 hour drive. The fact that I didn’t have any idea where to go just missed up my time when I arrived at noon, luckily the city wasn’t that big and found my self in the center of the city where the markets and the activity are there, then I arrived at the sea side ( forgot to mention that Yanbu is on the coast ) then I saw a directions to the fish market ! thats how I decided to go and begin photographing there, after that I drove around Yanbu port until I saw that there is a historical & abandoned area called AlSo0r just beside the port ! it was just amazing considering one of the local photographer that he said a few days earlier that Yanbu doesn’t have any old areas ! anyway I continued driving and right beside it there was exactly what I need, an old area that still people lives in. Sadly 95% of them are foreign workers that lives there after the saudi families are gone to newer areas. So I hope you enjoy the upcoming photos !

مرحبا بكم، مدينة جديدة وكانت مغامرة بالنسبة لي وذلك بسبب وصولي هناك بدون أي شخص لإستقبالي لكي يكون دليلي في هذه المدينة وهي مدينة ينبع والتي تقع شمال مدينة جدة على بعد ٤ ساعات قيادة تقريبا. في الحقيقة لم يكن لدي أي فكرة عن الموقع الذي يجب علي أن أزوره للتصوير وهذا ما ضيع علي بعض الوقت عند وصولي في وقت الظهر، من حسن الحظ أن ينبع ليست بتلك المدينة الكبيرة لذلك وجدت نفسي فجأة في منتصف المدينة والتي بها الأسواق والنشاطات اليومية المعتادة، وعند وصولي إلى جهة البحر ( نسيت ذكر أن ينبع هي مدينة ساحلية ) رأيت لوحة بها اتجاه لسوق السمك المحلي ! هكذا قررت الذهاب والبدء بالتصوير من هناك، بعد ذلك بدأت بالتجول بالسيارة حول ميناء ينبع حتى تبين لي وجود منطقة تاريخية مهجورة هناك يدعى حي الصور ! لقد كان شيئاً رائعاً اذا ذكرت أن عند حديثي مع أحد المصورين والذي يسكن في ينبع قال لي بعدم وجود حي قديم في ينبع، على كل حال تابعت القيادة حول ذلك الحي حتى وجدت بالتحديد ما أريده، حي قديم ولا يزال به بعض السكان أو الحياة. للأسف الشديد معظمهم من العمالة الأجنبية والذي يسكنون هنا بعد مغادرة العوائل السعودية هذا الحي إلى أحياء جديدة. أتمنى أن تروق لكم الصور القادمة !

First I arrived at Yanbu port and behind me is exactly the fish market

أولاً وصلت إلى ميناء ينبع وخلفي مباشرة سوق السمك

He was the first one I talk to since I arrived in Yanbu, and from him I kinda knew that Yanbu people are really nice

كان أول شخص أتحدث معه منذ وصولي إلى المدينة، أعطاني الانطباع السريع عن أهل ينبع بأنهم أناس طيبون وفعلاً هذا ما واجهته لاحقاً

Local people in the business in fish market, some of them as inherited it from their grandfather

The ice machine which they use the ice from it to keep the fish cold & fresh. Gotta wonder why isn’t there any new model from it cause it’s really noisy !

آلة الثلج والتي يستخدمون الثلج منها لإبقاء السمك بارداً وطازجاً. أتسائل لماذا لا يوجد نوع جديد من هذه الآلة فهي مزعجة جداً !

Of course beside the sellers, there are other people who come here and spent time with their friends

بالطبع بجانب الباعة، هناك أشخاص آخرون يأتون هنا ويقضون بعض الوقت مع أصحابهم

The life of this market, it’s not that big, but big enough for a city like Yanbu

الحياة في هذا السوق، ليس بالحجم الكبير ولكن بحجم كافي لمدينة مثل ينبع

After that I left the market, then found this historical area which are located behind this very old & abandoned house

بعد ذلك غادرت السوق ومن ثم وجدت هذه المنطقة التاريخية وهي خلف هذا المنزل القديم والمهجور

This is the remaining of AlSoor District, the first house was built in 1920 AD  ( about 94 years ago ) the old buildings represent a traditional style. Most of the people who lived there were traders of Yanbu and other important buildings on the coast. What really interest me that they used a special kind of stone in building those houses. According to some people nearby that the houses area abandoned 15 years ago. I have more photos but it’s meaningless to but them here as they are just lifeless

هذه بقايا حي الصور التاريخي، أول منزل بني هنا كان في عام ١٩٢٠م ( قرابة ٩٤ عاماً ) المباني التاريخية القديمة تمثل أسلوب المعماري القديم والجميل والتي كانت تتميز بإرتفاعها، كان يسكن هذا الحي التجار وبعض المسؤولون من المدينة بالإضافة إلى بعض المباني الهامة على الساحل. الأمر المثير للإهتمام هو استخدام حجر البحر ( يسمى المنقبي ) في بناء هذه المباني. على حسب إفادة البعض هناك بقولهم أن المنازل مهجورة منذ قرابة ١٥ عاماً. لدي المزيد من الصور ولكن ليس هناك معنى في طرحها لأنها فعلاً بلا حياة تماماً

Later on the evening I’ve found an old area that still has people lives in it, decided to do my walk here

An old truck that still works with a very bright color ( the number plate is new so it works )

شاحنة قديمة لا تزال تعمل ب لون أصفر ملفت للانتباه ( اللوحة جديدة لذلك قمت بإفتراض أنها تعمل حتى الان ) ـ

The color of the old wooden windows is really interesting, it’s either brown or green in most cases

Some of the few entrance that catches my eye in colors, ya the carpet thing is everywhere

بعض المداخل التي لفتت انتباهي بألوانها، والسجادات المرمية بالخارج عند المداخل في كل مكان

I was really happy to found these people here, got the chance to talk to them and tell me more about this area and AlSoor area too. They said they once lived here all of them and used to gather here every evening in the past, and after they moved to new houses they still gather here !

لقد كنت سعيداً جداً لأني وجدت هؤلاء الأشخاص، حظيت بالفرصة للتحدث معهم ليخبروني أكثر عن هذا الحي وعن حي الصور أيضاً. قالوا أنهم كانوا يعيشون هنا جميعاً بالسابق واعتادوا على الاجتماع هنا في هذه الجلسة الصغيرة وبعد أن انتقلوا إلى بيوت جديدة  لا يزالوا يجتمعون هنا !

You can see this house has a nice traditional look and this considered small and simple comparing to others

This is something that I only saw it in cartoons ! a ladder on a tree !

Of course in any city what so ever, I have to see abandoned cars. The first one is a new car that got demolished after an accident and on the wall it says ” Smile you in the city “

بالطبع في أي مدينة كانت لا بد أن ترى سيارات مهجورة ومحطمة. في الصورة الأولى السيارة جديدة ولكنها تحطمت في حادث آليم وفي الجدار مكتوب ” ابتسم فأنت في المدينة ” ـ

Since this area is right beside the sea, and most of the people who lives here are in the fishing business, there are lots of bouts everywhere

بما أن هذا الحي بجانب البحر تماما ومعظم الساكنين هنا يعملون في صيد السمك، لذلك هناك الكثير من القوارب

I’ve saw their door open, went inside to say hello and to ask them about the area, of course the one on the right is fisher man and he’s preparing his net

رأيت بابهم مفتوح، ذهبت إلى الداخل حتى أسلم عليهم وأسألهم عن هذه المنطقة، بالطبع الشخص الذي يقع بالجهة اليمنى هو صياد سمك ويقوم بتجهيز شبكة صيد الأسماك

Saw this old studio for photography business, very simple and old style inside it. Ironically the one in charge didn’t let me photograph more ! I mean come on we are both photographers !

رأيت هذا الأستديو القديم للتصوير، بسيط جداً وباستخدامات قديمة بالداخل، بشكل ساخر رفض المسؤول أن أقوم بالتصوير بالداخل !

Then I went to the center of the city where there was lots of places to visit but not enough time, so I had to choose the first alley ahead of me, found these guys a bicycle repair man & a guard

بعد ذلك توجهت إلى منتصف المدينة والتي كانت تحتوي على أماكن كثيرة للتصوير ولكن الوقت لم يكن كافياً أبداً، لذلك قمت بالدخول من أول زقاق كان أمامي ووجدت هؤلاء، مصلح دراجات وحارس

I was really happy that I found these people who live here and they are saudi’s ! it was a nice quick chat with them about what I’m doing and about more info from this place

لقد كنت سعيداً لأنني وجدت هؤلاء الأشخاص والذين يعيشون هنا وهم سعوديون ! لقد كانت محادثة لطيفة وسريعة عما كنت أفعله وعن معلومات أكثر عن هذا المكان

A very old house was standing alone in three sides

منزل قديم والذي كان وحيداً من ثلاث جهات

Everywhere in the city I must see an old traditional house, if they just received the proper caring

في أي مكان في المدينة يجب أن أرى منزل ببناء قديم، لو يحصلون فقط على العناية اللازمة

The best sights for me fro empty chairs are the ones that are part from the house and built like this one

أفضل المشاهد لي للأريكة الفارغة هي تلك التي جزء من نفس المنزل الذي بني معها

This Saudi man is use to come here ( a very small building which has a room and a garage ) every evening because this land is his father’s house in the past. He said being here remind him of his childhood 

هذا الرجل السعودي اعتاد على المجيء هنا ( مبنى صغير يحتوي على غرفة صغيرة وكراج ) كل مساء لأن هذه الأرض كانت في السابق منزل والده. يقول أن وجوده هنا تذكره بأيام الطفولة

On the left a beautiful sight yet sad when you know this is a wall for house, they just can’t afford a real wall !

On the first photo I was disappointed for not seeing anyone on the couch, then I walked a little and on the other side saw them !

في الصورة الأولى كنت محبطاً لأني لم أرى أحداً يستخدم الأريكة، ثم مشيت قليلاً فقط حتى رأيت بالجهة الآخرى هؤلاء جميعاً مجتمعين هنا !
