Hello again, I continue to show you some parts of Old Jeddah as this is part 2 and my 2nd visit which happens to be in the early morning on Friday. ( to view part 1 click here or visit the previous post ) I wanted to come back because I wanted to photograph the buildings even more with less people around. It was a 3 hours walk that wasn’t even enough to cover up all the area. Anyway this time I started my walk from a different location and it was better, saw a lot of building that I didn’t saw in the previous post and run across some people who live nearby. You will notice that most of the photos are in b/w, this is suitable for documentary and street photography which comes from a feedback I’ve for for couple of friends. Enjoy the photos !

مرحبا بكم، أكمل معكم في هذه التدوينة بعض أجزاء جدة التاريخية وهي الجزء الثاني وزيارتي الثاني التي صادفت الصباح الباكر من يوم الجمعة. ( لمشاهدة الجزء الأول اضغط هنا أو اذهب إلى التدوينة السابقة ) أردت العودة مرة اخرى لكي أقوم بتصوير أكثر للمباني مع عدم وجود ازدحام من الناس. بالحقيقة كانت الجولة لمدة ٣ ساعات من المشي والتي لم تكن كافية للتجول بالمنطقة كاملاً! على كل حال بدأت الجولة من مكان مختلف عن المرة الماضية، شاهدت الكثير من المباني التي لم أشاهدها وأيضاً صادفت بعض الأشخاص الذي يعيشون في هذه المنطقة. سوف تلاحظون أن معظم الصور ستكون بالأبيض والأسود لتناسبها أكثر مع تصوير حياة الشارع والتصوير التوثيقي وذلك بعد ملاحظات وصلتني من بعض الأصدقاء. استمتعوا بالصور !

I begun my walk from Bab Jadeed ( an old gate ) which was one of the gates of an old wall that was surrounding the historical area from enemies and was removed in 1947

بدأت جولتي ابتداءاً من باب جديد ( بوابة قديمة ) والتي كانت احدى البوابات لسور قديم كان يحصن هذه المنطقة التاريخية من الأعداء ثم تمت ازالته في عام ١٩٤٧م

So my decision in coming back in the early morning was perfect, beautiful weather and almost no people around so I can capture some of the buildings without distraction

أعتقد أن قراري في العودة في الصباح الباكر كان صائباً، كان الجو جميل ويكاد يخلو من الناس لذا تمكنت من إلتقاط صور لبعض المباني دون أي تشتيت

I can’t really understand why would they do a very artistic wall paint on a historical area ! this is so odd when you think about it. And to add more this is a work from a Tunisian artist specialized in Arabic Caligraffiti, I mean why from outside the country? Is there no artist who can do an amazing wall painting ?

لا أستطيع أن فهم لماذا يضعون عملاً جداري فني في منطقة تاريخية ! في الحقيقة رؤيتها هناك غريبة جداً بغض النظر أنها ملفتة، هي من عمل فنان تونسي متخصص في عمل مخطوطات جداري مذهلة. أود القول لماذا شخص من خارج المملكة؟ ألا يوجد فنانون بإمكانهم رسم أعمال جدارية مذهلة أيضاً ؟

When I saw photos from historical jeddah, I usually see those buildings or those wooden doors, nobody take note of these doors that are part of this area for while

عندما كنت أرى صور من جدة التاريخية، عادة أشاهد تلك المباني أو بعض الأبواب الخشبية، لا أحد يعطي اهتمام لهذه الأبواب والتي أصبحت جزء من هذه المنطقة منذ فترة ليست بالقصيرة

This is a shaded path which has a lot of shops ( closed at this hour of the friday ). This is one of the times that I have to shots of the same place but different stories, decided to our them both

So I finally arrived at a part of the market which was open on this streets

In the other hand this one wasn’t very lucky, the door is sealed, the top windows are also sealed and the wall are fallen apart

It’s kinda odd that I didn’t saw a lot of wall writing or I didn’t pay attention to them, I don’t remember really, but here is what I found
