Hello all, today is the first post from Qatif, Eastern Province since 2014 in this blog, I went to AlKhamis market which is a weekly market held Saturday and just like many other weekly markets it starts after sunrise, AlKhamis is the pronunciation of the Arabic word for Thursday and because why they call it that & it’s been held in Saturday is that before in Saudi Arabia and for a long time the weekend was Thursday & Friday and back then it was held in Thursday, then it changes a few years ago to Friday & Saturday., so the name remains the same but in a different day. مرحبا جميعاً، اليوم أقوم بنشر تدوينة الاولى من القطيف بالمنطقة الشرقية منذ ٢٠١٤ في هذه المدونة، ذهبت إلى سوق الخميس وهو سوق شعبي أسبوعي يقام كل يوم السبت ومثل حال الأسواق الأسبوعية يبدأ السوق بعد شروق الشمس مباشرة، السبب في تسمية سوق الخميس بهذا الإسم هو أن سابقاً في السعودية ولمدة طويلة جداً كانت العطلة الأسبوعية يومي الخميس والجمعة وكان السوق يقام في يوم الخميس ولكن قبل بضعة سنوات فقط أصدر قرار بتغيير العطلة الأسبوعية لتصبح يوم الجمعة والسبت، لذا الاسم بقي على ما هو عليه ولكن اليوم تغير فقط. قمت بنشر بعض القصص في تدوينة في مدونتي الاخرى تستطيعون زيارتها من هنا.

Hello all, today I’m gonna share you from the 2nd largest city in Saudi Arabia which is Jeddah, I only posted 2 posts about it and only from one area (Day 33 – Old Jeddah and Day 34 – Old Jeddah). Because the city is huge it needed more exploring so I was in quick visit to city and took the opportunity and went to an old area called AlRewais area and there I walked around for 2 hours, the people their were nice & welcoming.

مرحبا جميعاً، اليوم سأقوم بمشاركتكم صور من ثاني أكبر مدينة في السعودية وهي مدينة جدة، قمت فقط بنشر تدوينتين فقط من هذه المدينة ومن حي واحد فقط (اليوم ٣٣ – جدة القديمة و اليوم ٣٤ – جدة القديمة). لأنه المدينة كبيرة كانت تحتاج إلى استكشاف أكثر لذا كنت في زيارة سريعة للمدينة وتوجهت إلى أحد الأحياء القديمة ويسمى حي الرويس وهناك تجولت قرابة الساعتين تقريباً، الناس هناك كانوا لطيفين ومرحبين.

Hello all, today’s post is from another small city in Qassim Region which is AlBukariyah city, naturally I went downtown for the market but it was so small it was only on 1 street & that’s it, I already arrived a bit late about 1 hour before sunset so while walking I noticed an old area with lots of old traditional houses which some are still used so I decided to focus on this side while I have time, the weather was cloudy all the time since it’s December which wasn’t good at that time. This photowalk was part of my trip to Qassim Region in December 2015.

مرحبا جميعاً، تدوينة اليوم من أيضاً مدينة صغيرة اخرى في منطقة القصيم وهي مدينة البكيرية، توجهت إلى وسط المدينة من أجل الوصول إلى السوق ولكن تفاجأت أن مساحة السوق صغيرة جداً ولا تتعدى الشارع الواحد فقط، وصلت متأخراً بعض الشيء تقريباً قبل ساعة واحدة من الغروب لذا أثناء ذهابي إلى السوق لاحظت أحد الأحياء يحتوي على كمية كبيرة من البيوت الشعبية التقليدية المستخدم بعضها لذا قررت التركيز على هذا الجانب بينما لدي الوقت، الأجواء كانت مليئة بالسحب طوال الوقت بما أنه كان شهر ديسمبر وهذا الشيء لم يكن جيداً في ذلك الوقت. هذه الجولة كانت من ضمن رحلتي لمنطقة القصيم في ديسمبر ٢٠١٥.

Hello all, today’s post is from a small city in Qassim Region which is AlRass city, because it’s a small city there was only the local market downtown so my walk mainly from there, and it happens that it rained a little bit, this photowalk was part of my trip to Qassim Region in December 2015.

Hello all, today’s post is back to the capital Riyadh city, I went to the main market for selling, junks, used items and some cheap things in anything you could imagine, the market is located south of the city and it’s called “Haraj Bin Qassem”. I only vistied the market once and as I was told, most of market has been rebuilt & arranged the seling spaces more.

مرحبا جميعاً، تدوينة اليوم تعود من العاصمة الرياض، ذهبت إلى السوق الرئيسي لبيع الخرداوات، الأشياء المستخدمة و بعض الأشياء رخيصة ثمن ويمكن أن تجدون أي شيء تتوقعونه، السوق يقع في جنوب الرياض ويطلق عليه اسم “حراج بن قاسم”. قمت بزيارة السوق مرة واحدة فقط وقد علمت أن السوق منذ فترة قد أعيد انشاءه وترتيب أماكن البيع.

Hello all, today I’m back to post more from my hometown village which is AlQarah in AlHasa east of Saudi Arabia and to be precise from the weekly market at Sunday morning, it was tough being here early because I had to woke up about 4 am and drive from Dammam to AlHasa which takes about an hour & half drive so I can be there as early as possible and it was worth it!

مرحبا جميعاً، اليوم عودة لنشر المزيد من القرية التي هي مسقط رأسي قرية القارة بالأحساء شرق السعودية وبالتحديد من السوق الأسبوعي الذي يكون في صباح يوم الأحد، تواجدي هنا في الصباح الباكر كان صعباً بعض الشيء وكان علي الاسيتقاظ مبكراً الساعة ٤ فجراً وقيادة السيارة من الدمام إلى الأحساء والتي تأخذ قرابة ساعة ونصف قيادة حتى أكون هناك مبكراً قدر الإمكان ولقد كان الأمر يستحق تماماً!

Again with another post from AlHasa because I got a lot in my archive, this time in village called AlTaraf, I aimed to visit the weekly market on Friday morning which is usually crowded and it really was since it was winter & the weekend, here are the results.

عودة مع تدوينة اخرى من الأحساء أيضاً بسبب أنه لدي الكثير في أرشيفي منها، هذه المرة في قرية الطرف، كنت مركزاً على إلتقاط السوق الصباحي الأسبوعي والذي يقام صباح يوم الجمعة والذي يكون عادة مكتظاً بالناس وكان كذلك بسبب أنها عطلة نهاية الأسبوع وأن الجو بارد، هذه بعض النتائج.

13 Hours on the streets of Qatif

In Saturday 25th of May 2019 a world wide event for street photographers under is the name (24 Hour Project) is held for the 8th year, 24 hour project is an event for documenting daily life and sharing 1 photo each hour in the day for 24 hour. Each photographer begins shooting at their city local time at 12 am, anyone can join the event either with a professional camera or just a mobile camera. This year date was set exactly in Ramadan with an islamic death anniversary (The death of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib) so I went to Qatif, Saudi Arabia to document those islamic lectures held be shia clerks and managed to document 13 hour & share 1 photo for each hour in the same day. Usually I spend all the time on the streets walking, but this time I was moving from one area to another by the car, so it wasn’t 13 hour straight. Anyhow I ended with a really good collection and I hope you like it!

في يوم السبت ٢٥ مايو ٢٠١٩ كان هناك حدث عالمي لمصوري حياة الشارع تحت اسم (مشروع ٢٤ساعة) يقام للسنة الثامنة، مشروع ٢٤ ساعة حدث يهتم بتوثيق الحياة اليومية والانسانية بشكل عام ومشاركة صورة ١ لكل ساعة تم تصويرها لمدة ٢٤ ساعة في يوم واحد. كل مصور يبدأ التصوير في مدينته حسب التوقيت المحلي بعد منتصف الليل مباشرة، الكل يستطيع الانضمام لهذا المشروع سواء بكاميرا احترافية أو كاميرا جوال. هذه السنة صادف التاريخ وجوده في شهر رمضان وأيضاً في مناسبة دينية لدى الشيعة وهي وفاة الإمام علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام، لذا قمت بالذهاب إلى القطيف في المنطقة الشرقية لتوثيق المحاضرات والمجالس الحسينية التي يقيمها كبار الشيوخ من الشيعة وتمكنت من توثيق ١٣ ساعة ونشر لكل ساعة صورة في نفس اليوم، بالعادة أقضي كامل وقتي في الشارع أتجول مشياً ولكن هذه المرة كنت انتقل من مكان إلى اخر بواسطة السيارة، لذا لم تكن ١٣ ساعة متواصلة. على كل حال خرجت بمجموعة جميلة جداً وأتمنى أن تروق لكم!

AlSabil Barber – Story 009

يعمل أحمد فتحي جراحي (أبوعلي) في حي السبيل في جدة في مهنة الحلاقة في صالونٍ صغير لا تتجاوز مساحته عدة أمتار، يعمل حلاقاً منذ عمر ١٧ عاماً وهي مهنة العائلة التي قد ورثها من أبيه. 

Ahmad Jarahi (Abu Ali) is working as barber in AlSabil area in Jeddah city in small shop, he worked as a barber since he was 17 years old and it’s a profession he picked it up from his father as it’s a family profession.

Day at the famous Jeddah AlBalad area

Last year I had a course training from work for a week in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and it was a perfect opportunity to visit the famous Jeddah Historical Area also known as Jeddah AlBalad. I visited this area many times before including one which was part of my Street life in Saudi Arabia Project, you can view the published blogs here and also I published a story from the series Saudi Life Story. So yeah I have lots of memories from this area and here’s even more photos which I hope you like. Enjoy!

العام الماضي كانت لدي دورة تدريبية لمدة أسبوع في مدينة جدة غرب المملكة وكانت الفرصة ممتازة لزيارة جدة البلد التاريخية، قمت بزيارة هذه الجزء من المدينة أكثر من مرة وكان من ضمنها جولات جزء من مشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية وتستطيعون رؤية نتائج التدوينات من هنا، أيضاً قمت بنشر قصة من هنا تستطيعون زيارتها من ضمن سلسلة قصص الحياة في السعودية، لذا لدي الكثير من الذكريات هنا وأعرض لكم المزيد من الصور أتمنى أن تعجبكم!
