عبدالله بن محمد الرباعي الغامدي أبوعبدالرحمن من قلب مدينة الباحة امتهن مهنة الخياطة للزي النسائي التراثي لأهل الجنوب منذو الصغر، كان أبوعبدالرحمن متواجداً في مدينة الطائف لمدة ٤٠ عام يعمل خياطاً قبل أن ينتقل من هناك إلى الباحة قبل قرابة ١٠ سنوات، بعد ذلك أصبح يعمل في هذا المحل الصغير وهو من ضمن عدة محلات لسوق صغير للأعمال التراثية المتعددة.

Aduallah Bin Mohammed AlGhamdi (Abu Abdurahman) from the heart of AlBahah city, he worked as tailor for traditional women dress from a young age, Abu Abdurahman lived in Taif city & worked for 40 years as a tailor before moving from there to AlBahah city 10 years ago, after that he started working in this small space which is part of small building for Heritage shops.

AlHada Mountain Lookout – Documentary

في خلال زيارتي لمدينة الطائف غرب المملكة العام الماضي قمت بالذهاب على طريق جبل الهدا المؤدي إلى مكة المكرمة وفي توجد نقطة في قمة الجبل بجانب الطريق تطل على نفس الطريق نزولاً وتطل على باقي المنطقة هناك في منظر بديع وجميل، اعتاد البعض المجيء هنا لقضاء الوقت في وقت العصر حتى المغرب والغالبية هم من الشباب وهذه بعض الصور من هناك.

In my visit to Taif city located west in Saudi Arabia last year I went to AlHada mountain road which leads to Makkah city, and at the top beside the road there is a lookout for the rest of the road and the area around, the view is very beautiful and people hang out here usually before sunset, these are some the photos I’ve captured from there.

Dammam Auction Market – Street & Documentary

Dammam auction market or the regular auction market in the city, each major city in Saudi Arabia has a big market which lots of people tend to sell used & broken stuff on the streets, you can basically find anything here. For me and for some reason about the people in this kind of markets that this is the worst place I can think of to take my camera and photograph, a lot of aggressive & sensitive people toward the camera form different experience in several city. Anyway here are the photos I managed to get from there.

سوق الحراج في الدمام أو سوق الحراج المعتاد في المدينة، في كل مدينة كبيرة في السعودية من المعتاد وجود سوق كبير ويستخدمه الناس في بيع الاشياء المستعملة والمتهالكة على الشوارع، لذا إلى حدٍ ما من الممكن أن تجد أي شيء هنا. بالنسبة لي شخصياً ولبعض الأسباب عن الناس في هذه النوعية من الأسواق فإنني أعتبر هذا السوق بغض النظر عن المدينة من أسوأ الأماكن للتصوير، الكثير من الناس الحساسين والعدوانيين تجاه الكاميرا وحاملها وهذا الشيء من واقع تجربة شخصية. على كل حال هذه بعض الصور التي استطعت الحصول عليها من هناك.

Morning walk in Riyadh – Street & Documentary

The last time I visited Riyadh I had the chance to go out in a photowalk early morning with some photographer friends who know some the of the areas there, so we went to an area called AlWezarat which most of the people who live there are foreign. It wasn’t my best walk, but it wasn’t bad either.

كانت لدي الفرصة للقيام بجولة تصوير سريعة في الصباح الباكر عندما في زيارتي الأخيرة للرياض مع بعض الأصدقاء المصورين الذين كانوا يعرفون بعض المناطق في المدينة، توجهنا إلى حي يسمى حي الوزارات وهو بشكل عام مأهول بالسكان الأجانب. لم تكن جولتي المفضلة في ذلك اليوم ولم تكن سيئة أيضاً.

Abu Ali The Blacksmith – Story 008

في أحد شوارع سوق القيصرية الخلفية في الهفوف بمحافظة الأحساء يعمل أبوعلي في ورشته الصغيرة في مهنة الحدادة التي ورثها عن أبيه، حسين محمد المبارك في الخامس والثلاثين من عمره يعمل حداداً منذ سنٍ صغير جداً على حد قوله، يبدأ عمله بعد صلاة الظهر وحتى إلى بعد صلاة المغرب.

In the back street of AlQaisariah Market in Hofuf, AlHasa there Abu Ali works in his small workshop as a blacksmith which he inherited from his father, 35 years old Hussain Mohammed AlMubarak works as a blacksmith from very young age according to him, he starts working at 1 pm and finishes after sunset.

AlKhamis market – Streets & Stories

AlKhamis market which is a weekly market held Saturday just after sunrise, AlKhamis means Thursday, before in Saudi Arabia the weekend was Thursday & Friday, then it changes a few years ago to Friday & Saturday. So the name remains the same but in a different day, and here are some photos and stories I took from that morning.

سوق الخميس وهو سوق أسبوعي يقام يوم السبت بعد شروق الشمس، يسمى سوق الخميس لأنه سابقاً كان السوق يقام في يوم الخميس عندما كانت العطلة الأسبوعية تصادف الخميس والجمعة ولكن بعد أن تغيرت قبل بضعة سنوات إلى الجمعة والسبت تغير اليوم الذي يقام فيه السوق ولكن لم يتغير المسمى لدى الناس، إلتقطت في ذلك الصباح بعض الصور من الحياة وبعض القصص.

Day at the famous Jeddah AlBalad area

Last year I had a course training from work for a week in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and it was a perfect opportunity to visit the famous Jeddah Historical Area also known as Jeddah AlBalad. I visited this area many times before including one which was part of my Street life in Saudi Arabia Project, you can view the published blogs here and also I published a story from the series Saudi Life Story. So yeah I have lots of memories from this area and here’s even more photos which I hope you like. Enjoy!

العام الماضي كانت لدي دورة تدريبية لمدة أسبوع في مدينة جدة غرب المملكة وكانت الفرصة ممتازة لزيارة جدة البلد التاريخية، قمت بزيارة هذه الجزء من المدينة أكثر من مرة وكان من ضمنها جولات جزء من مشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية وتستطيعون رؤية نتائج التدوينات من هنا، أيضاً قمت بنشر قصة من هنا تستطيعون زيارتها من ضمن سلسلة قصص الحياة في السعودية، لذا لدي الكثير من الذكريات هنا وأعرض لكم المزيد من الصور أتمنى أن تعجبكم!

AlQurain Old men – Story 006

في أحد زاويا قرية القرين أحد القرى الشمالية لمحافظة الأحساء وجدت غرفة صغيرة في أحد المزارع يقصدها بعض كبار السن بقصد اللقاء وقضاء الوقت مع بعضهم البعض. أبونوح، أبويعقوب، أبوعلي وغيرهم يحكون لي بعض قصصهم.

In one of the corners of AlQurain village which is part of the Northern villages in AlHasa, Saudi Arabia I found a small room in one of the farms that some of the local old men goes to for meeting others and spending their time there. Abo Nouh, Abu Yaqoub, Abo Ali and the rest of them tell me some of their stories.

AlDawaser Tenet – Story 004

في أحد أقدم الأحياء في الدمام تقع خيمة صغيرة وسط أرض فضاء محاطة بالأشجار وضعها بعض كبار السن من أهل الحي وهي بمثابة المتنفس لهم، أطلقت عليها اسم خيمة الدواسر لسبب أن الحي يطلق عليه بـ حي الدواسر. بوهشام وبومحمد وبوخالد قد اعتادوا لفترة طويلة بعد تقاعدهم من العمل قضاء أوقاتهم هنا بفترات متقطعة وبشكل يومي بالإضافة إلى أشخاص اخرين.

In one of the oldest areas in Dammam a small tent located in an empty land surrounded by green trees and it was put together by some local old men which is consider a relaxing spot for them, I called it AlDawaser Tent because this area is called AlDawaser neighborhood. Abu Hesham, Abu Mohammad and Abu Khaled are used to be here for a long time after their retirement from their work and they spend their time here daily in different timing with other people.
