Closer – Portrait photography

So this is a small series of portraits, I love taking close up portraits, just I think the details in each persons face is unique and interesting not to mention the eyes! As for the processing is just another way of my style showing a dark tone for a black & white portrait just away from the usual boring stuff.

الصور التالية عبارة عن سلسلة من البورتريهات، أنا دائماً أحب إلتقطا بورترية بشكل مقرب جداً، أعتقد أن التفاصيل في وجه كل شخص مميزة ومثيرة للإهتمام بدون أن أذكر العينين بالطبع! وعن المعالجة هي تعبر عن طريقتي في معالجة الصور البورترية بطابع داكن للصور الأبيض والأسود بعيداً عن المعالجة التقليدية المملة.

Cloudy day in my hometown village

This is another photowalk for my hometown village AlQarah which is located in AlHasa, Eastern Province. It was a cold and cloudy day so I decided to walk around to the capture moments of the people there. See my previous walk here.

جولة اخرى في القرية التي تعتبر هي مسقط رأسي وهي قرية القارة وتقع في محافظة الأحساء بالمنطقة الشرقية. كان جواً بارداً ومليئاً بالغيوم لذلك قررت التجول لإلتقاط بعض اللحظات للناس هنا. شاهد جولتي السابقة هنا.

Manama Central 1 – street photography

So this was an early morning walk in Manama Souq in the area which has the famous Bab AlBahrain, in this walk I used my 24mm lens on my 5DIII which was the first time to shoot streets using this lens and it was also the last time, in short I didn’t like that range, it can’t compete to the 35mm focal range. Anyway enough with the technical stuff and here are some of the scenes I managed to capture during that morning including a bonus at the end. Enjoy!

AlQurain Old men – Story 006

في أحد زاويا قرية القرين أحد القرى الشمالية لمحافظة الأحساء وجدت غرفة صغيرة في أحد المزارع يقصدها بعض كبار السن بقصد اللقاء وقضاء الوقت مع بعضهم البعض. أبونوح، أبويعقوب، أبوعلي وغيرهم يحكون لي بعض قصصهم.

In one of the corners of AlQurain village which is part of the Northern villages in AlHasa, Saudi Arabia I found a small room in one of the farms that some of the local old men goes to for meeting others and spending their time there. Abo Nouh, Abu Yaqoub, Abo Ali and the rest of them tell me some of their stories.

Abdo a Yemeni cafe kid – Story 005

عبدو جابر من جمهورية اليمن، جاء إلى السعودية عام ٢٠١٤ وهو في سن صغير وعمل بالمزارع لمدة سنتين ومن ثم سنة اخرى في احد المقاهي الشعبية في جزيرة تاروت في محافظة القطيف.

Abdo Jaber is from Yemen, he came to Saudi Arabia in 2014 while he’s young and started working in the farms for 2 years then after that he worked for year in a famous traditional cafe in Tarout Island, Qatif.

AlDawaser Tenet – Story 004

في أحد أقدم الأحياء في الدمام تقع خيمة صغيرة وسط أرض فضاء محاطة بالأشجار وضعها بعض كبار السن من أهل الحي وهي بمثابة المتنفس لهم، أطلقت عليها اسم خيمة الدواسر لسبب أن الحي يطلق عليه بـ حي الدواسر. بوهشام وبومحمد وبوخالد قد اعتادوا لفترة طويلة بعد تقاعدهم من العمل قضاء أوقاتهم هنا بفترات متقطعة وبشكل يومي بالإضافة إلى أشخاص اخرين.

In one of the oldest areas in Dammam a small tent located in an empty land surrounded by green trees and it was put together by some local old men which is consider a relaxing spot for them, I called it AlDawaser Tent because this area is called AlDawaser neighborhood. Abu Hesham, Abu Mohammad and Abu Khaled are used to be here for a long time after their retirement from their work and they spend their time here daily in different timing with other people.

Abu Faisal the Shepherd – Story 003

في مدينة نجران والواقعة في منطقة نجران جنوب غرب السعودية يعيش ناصر بن صالح المجدد من قبيلة وايلة ويكنى بوفيصل وهو أحد رعاة الإبل المتواجد في سوق الإبل والذي يقع غرب المدينة.

In Najran city south-west of Saudi Arabia lives Nasser Bin Saleh & they call him About Faisal and he’s one the camel shepherd in the camel market which located west of the city.

My 15 day road trip to 4 cities in Saudi Arabia

أول رحلة تصوير بعد انقطاع أكثر من سنة وبالطبع لايزال هناك الكثير أستطيع تصويره وتوثيقه في السعودية ولهذا قررت اعادة زيارة بعض المدن التي قمت بزيارتها لمشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية وهي الطائف وأبها ونجران، في الحقيقة نجران هي وجهتي الرئيسية ولكن قررت التوقف في أكثر من مدينة قبل ذلك.. في هذه الرحلة لن أقوم بالتركيز على جانب واحد بل سأقوم بتصوير حياة الشارع وتصوير قصة معينة والقيام بتسليم صور مطبوعة والتي إن أخبرتكم عددها ستقولون عني مجنون! لا أعلم ما يمكن أن يحدث ولكنها تجربة لا يمكنني التوقف عنها!

First photography trip in more then a year and of course because there is a lot to photograph in Saudi I decided to revisit some of the cities which are Taif, Abha and Najran. In fact Najran is my main destination but I wanted to make a few stops before that. In this trip I will do street photography, stories and deliver printed photos which if you knew how many are they you will call me crazy! But I can’t seem to stop doing that.

Jazan & AlBahah road trip with my brother

So Last year in order to finish my Street Life in Saudi Arabia project I had to go to a trip to Jazan Region which is located in the south-west of Saudi Arabia, one of my brothers decided to come along in this road trip which took us almost 18 hours from Dammam to Jazan city (with a couple of stops to rest & eat) we were discovering some sightseeing aside from the places I went to photograph for my project Some of the sightseeing were AlFaifa mountains & Farasn Island in Jazan Region, AlSoudah mountain in Asir Region and an ancient village in AlBahah in our way back, the photos will be posted in chronological order. مرحبا مرحبا .. مرحبا. السنة الماضية اكتوبر ٢٠١٦ ولكي أنهي مشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية قررت الذهاب في رحلة تصوير إلى منطقة جازان والتي تقع جنوب غرب السعودية، أحد أخواني قرر الذهاب معي في هذه الرحلة والتي استغرقت ١٨ ساعة عن طريق السيارة من الدمام إلى مدينة جازان (بعد عدة توقفات للراحة والأكل) أثناء الرحلة وبشكل جانبي عن أهدافي في المشروع كنا نقوم بإكتشاف بعض المعالم الموجودة في المنطقة وكانت اجمالاً هي جبال فيفا وجزيرة فارسان في منطقة جازان، جبل السودة في منطقة عسير وقرية أثرية في منطقة الباحة في طريق عودتنا، سأقوم بوضع الصور بالترتيب الزمني للرحلة. Extracting Oil the old way from Jazan

When I was on the road from Jazan to Abha I saw in the sideways camels circling around blindfolded with men guiding them. So I stopped my car and it turns out that they are extracting  oil by grinding it, the camel circle around pulling the wooden lever hooked to him plus a big rock in his back so he moves slowly,  all that attached to a pole of wood which is crafted especially for this task and this pole moves as the camels circle in a big wooden pot also especially crafted for this, it turns slowly for hours and grind the seeds into oil called (Smsm Oil) used either for food or healthy choices for woman which is very common in the Southern Region. Another amazing thing that the camel can move & stop by a sound that the owner make which something impressive!
