Hello Everyone, please note that this blog post supposed to be published about 3 months ago (meaning after I returned from this trip) but for some reason I didn’t do that and I’m really persistent in documenting my photographic journey.
مرحباً بالجميع قبل البداية أحب أن أقول هذه التدوينة من المفترض نشرها قبل ٣ شهور أي بعد عودتي من الرحلة ولكن لسبب ما سقطت سهواً وأنا شديد الحرص على تدوين ما أستطيع من مسيرتي الفوتوغرافية لذا جرى التنويه

After year & 10 months without any photography trips, I started one on January 2024 and a very short trip making it the shortest trip of all time with more then a city (I don’t think I’m gonna do that again), first stop was Riyadh like always, on my arrival at the morning to the capital I headed straight to AlBatha Area downtown because of the markets & the endless scenes there and also because I prefer to photograph there in the morning, I parked my car in a multi-floor parking lot & started my photowalk there in the narrow alleys through the tall buildings around, the sun was almost direct which led to perfect lightings in these alleys, in the afternoon I drove my car around an area called AlShumaysi then parked only a couple of minutes of small local auction which was difficult to photograph because it had foreign people from different countries from Africa & Asia, I met with some Saudi old men which they lived in this area in the past but still continue to come from time to time and we talked about different things, I left the auction but continued to walk around the old houses in the area and in the end it was a very productive photowalk for me.

بعد انقطاع سنة و١٠ شهور عن رحلات التصوير، بدأت يوم أمس رحلة تصوير قصيرة جداً والتي تجعلها أقصر رحلة تصوير تتضمن أكثر من مدينة قمت بها (ولا أعتقد أنني سأكررها مرة اخرى) وكانت أول نقطة للتوقف هي الرياض، مباشرة مع وقت وصولي صباحاً للعاصمة توجهت لمنطقة البطحاء وسط الرياض بسبب الأسواق والمشاهد اللامنتهية هناك وبسبب أنني دائماً أفضل التصوير هناك في الصباح، أوقفت سيارتي في مبنى نستو هايبر والذي يحتوي على مواقف في طوابق علوية وبدات جولتي هناك من الممرات الضيقة في المباني التي المقابلة للمواقف وتجولت هناك حتى ما قبل اذان الظهر، الشمس كانت اضاءتها حادة مما ساعد على خلق اضاءة ممتازة في الممرات، بعد صلاة العصر أخذت جولة بالسيارة حول حي الشميسي الذي سمعت عنه القيل والقال ولكن أردت الرؤية بنفسي، من حسن الحظ أنني أوقفت سيارتي على الشارع الرئيسي وفقط على بعد دقيقتين من تواجد مجموعة من الجالية الأفريقية والآسيوية واليمنية في حراج يسمى بـ حراج الرخوم، رأيت مجموعة من كبار السن من أهالي الحي سابقاً واعتادوا على المجيء باستمرار للحراج ودار بين وبينهم أحاديث متنوعة، كان التصوير هناك كان صعب جداً ولكنني غادرت الحراج وتجولت في الحي ما بين البيوت الطين القديمة والكتابات العشوائية بأشكالها وعلى الرغم من قلة احتكاكي مع أهاليها إلا أنها كانت جولة مثمرة بالنسبة لي.

2nd day of the trip started with a flat tire and lucky I wasn’t driving fast, so I used the spare tire and drove to my next destination which is Buraydah city in Qassim Region, I arrived in AlJaradah auction market, it was Thursday so the market was a bit crowded which was even better for me and because of that I got to photograph lots of scenes, people & merchandise even while arriving a bit late, also it was the first time I see the people selling locusta which is quit popular among the people in Qassim region as very tasty food for them, I heard a lot about it but was the first time I see it, after getting some rest & cup of coffee I went back in the evening photographing the markets beside it and of course I walked around the residential area nearby.

اليوم الثاني من الرحلة بدأ مع عطب لأحد عجلات السيارة ومن حسن الحظ لم أكن أقود بسرعة عالية، قمت بتغييره بإستخدام الاحتياطي وتوجهت إلى وجهتي الثانية وهي مدينة بريدة في منطقة القصيم، وصلت مباشرة إلى سوق وحراج الجَرَدَة وكان اليوم يصادف أحد الأيام المزدحمة بالسوق كون اليوم هو يوم الخميس والذي كان نقطة لصالحي ولهذا قمت بتصوير الكثير من المشاهد والناس والبضائع التي تباع على الرغم من وصولي المتأخر الغير مقصود، وأيضاً شهدت للمرة الأولى بيع الجراد والذي يعتبر الأمر مشهوراً في المنطقة حيث يمثل الجراد وجبة لذيذة عند البعض، وبعد الراحة المستحقة وكوب قهوة عدت مع صلاة العصر لتصوير الأسواق الاخرى التي بجانب هذا السوق ولم تخلوا الجولة من تجولي داخل الأحياء السكنية المجاورة.

3rd day from my trip I’ve drove super early before sunrise leaving Buraydah on the way to Hafer AlBatin city for the first time & choose to drive through a road it seems to me from google map that it’s small then it’s perfect for me, I stopped a lot to photograph the road, sheep & camels, I even saw falcons for the first time up close and I didn’t have a clue that they existed nearby here, I arrived at Hafer AlBatin at noon and after getting some rest I headed to the old market in the city and walked for about 2 hours there, most of the shops are old but most of shop signs are designed to be united which was ugly, then I took the chance to explore the old area beside the market and with the sunset I headed straight back for Dammam which was a long 6 hours drive.

اليوم الثالث من الرحلة خرجت مبكراً من بريدة قبل شروق الشمس في الطريق إلى حفر الباطن للمرة الأولى وقمت بأخذ الطريق مروراً بمحافظة الاسياح بسبب أن الطريق كان يبدو لي من الخريطة أنه صغير ويمر بعدة مراكز وهذا كان هدفي، توقفت عدة مرات لتصوير الطريق ورعي الابل والماشية وحتى أنني واجهت مجموعة من الصقور للمرة الأولى أشاهدهم عن قرب ولم تكن لدي خلفية بتواجدهم في هذه الطريق الذي سلكته (المنطقة تتبع محافظة حفر الباطن)، وصلت حفر الباطن مع صلاة الظهر وبعد الراحة توجهت إلى السوق القديم في المدينة وتجولت هناك قرابة الساعتين بين المحلات التي معظمها قديم ولكن تم تجديد معظم الواجهات واسماء المحلات بشكل موحد وكان مظهرها سيء، واخذت الفرصة لإستكشاف سريع للحي القديم بجوار السوق ومع الغروب الشمس غادرت عائداً بإتجاه الدمام وكانت قيادة قرابة ٦ ساعات طويلة.

It was a 3 days trip only maybe the shortest trip for multiple cites, I drove about 1650 km visited 3 cities (Riyadh – Buraydah – Hafer AlBatin) achieving 5 photowalks for markets and old area, Hafer AlBatin city joins my list for cities that I photograph in the Kingdom.

كانت رحلة لمدة ٣ أيام فقط ربما أقصر رحلة تصوير لعدة مدن قمت بها قطعت قرابة ١٦٥٠ كيلومتر بالسيارة في زيارة ٣ مدن ( الرياض – بريدة – حفر الباطن) حققت بها ٥ جولات تصوير لأسواق وأحياء، مدينة حفر الباطن تنضم لقائمة المدن التي صورت بها بالمملكة كونها الزيارة الأولى لي.
