We continue to show you more from Najran city with this part ( If you haven’t seen Part 1 or Part 2 please do ). My friend took me to the Historical Amara Palace which was the government building the residence for the ruler of Najran which was built 75 years ago and in front of it was the old houses for the people back then, sadly these house are long gone and demolished leaving a large area of empty space, that what took me find that there was an old area which is my main subject in my project ( I mean by that from 20 to 50 years old ). So in Part 3 from Najran city I’ve gone to what they call the Women’s Market and this old area and its people that were so nice to me considering I’m a stranger for them.

أكمل معكم مع صور أكثر من نجران مع هذا الجزء ( اذا لم تشاهدوا الجزء الأول أو الجزء الثاني من نجران شاهدها أولاً ). أخذني صديقي إلى قصر الأمارة التاريخي في نجران والذي يعتبر المبنى الحكومي ومسكن حاكم نجران ذاك الوقت والذي بني قبل ٧٥ سنة وكان جواره الحي التراثي القديم ببيوته القديمة يسكنها أهل نجران قديماً، بشكل مؤسف هذه البيوت هدمت وتلاشت قبل مدة من الزمن ولم يبقى إلا أرض فارغة أمام القصر وهذا بالضبط ما أوصلني إلى الحي المجاور له وهو حي قديم والذي دائماً أهدف له في هذا المشروع ( أقصد بالقديم ما يكون بين ٢٠ إلى ٥٠ سنة بالعمر ) لذا في الجزء الثالث من مدينة نجران ذهبت إلى ما يطلق عليه سوق الحريم وهذا الحي وبسكانه والذين كانوا لطيفين جداً معي على الرغم من كوني غريب بالنسبة لهم.

First the women’s market, it wasn’t much and I’ve came a little early too

أولاً سوق الحريم، لم يكن بالشيء المثير للاهتمام وكنت قد وصلت هناك مبكراً

Two sellers sits outside of their shop as habit of them, their shop contains stuff that are for the kitchen’s need, one of the reasons why it’s called the Women’s Market

بائعات يجلسان خارج محلهما كـ روتين يومي لهم، المحلات تحتوي على ضروريات المطبخ من أواني وبهارات وغيرها، أعتقد أن هذا أحد الأسباب لجعل هذا السوق باسم سوق الحريم

Ok, so for the really main reason of the markets name that in the near past most of the sellers here women! I was told a few years ago there was 20 known women who sell different merchandise, sadly that number decreases a lot, about 3 – 5 women only and when I was there only 2 women were there! Basically she sets in the middle of an open shop like this

حسناً أعتقد أن السبب الرئيسي لإطلاق هذا الاسم على هذا السوق هو أنه في الماضي القريب كان أغلب الباعة هنا هم من النساء! قيل لي قبل عدة سنوات كان هناك حوالي ٢٠ امرأة معروفة تبيع مختلف أنواع البضائع هنا، للأسف هذا الرقم تقلص كثيراً بين ٣ – ٥ من النساء فقط، وعندما كنت هناك كان هناك اثنتان حاضرتان بالسوق! بشكل بسيط تجلس هذه المرأة في وسط محلها الصغير المفتوح

I wasn’t so luck with the other woman, but it didn’t mind that I photograph the place where she sits and wait for costumers

لم أكن محظوظاً مع الامرأة الاخرى، ولكن لم تمانع أن أقوم بتصوير المكان الذي تجلس فيه وهي تنتظر زبائنها

A small amount of silver that are sold here, these are very tradition for women in the South

كمية بسيطة من الفضيات تباع هنا، هذه معروفة وشعبية هنا لنساء الجنوب

The seller is showing me a big silver necklace which they are sold in different prices

البائع يعرض لي عقد كبير من الفضة والتي تباع بأسعار متفاوتة

I left the market to the see the Palace and in front of it what still left from the demolished old houses still there, abandoned and almost falling apart

غادرت السوق متوجهاً لرؤية القصر وكان أمامه ما تبقى من البيوت القديمة التي هدمت لا يزالوا موجودين ضمن مساحة ارض كبيرة وفارغة، مهملة ومنسية

يتحدث إلى هاتفه ويجلس في الارض الفارغة التي كنت أتحدث عنها

I started walking further away from the palace and noticed these old houses part from an old area still look ok and people leaving in it after I asked around!

مشيت مبتعداً عن القصر ولاحظت بيوت قديمة جزء من حي مجاور ولا تزال بحالة جيدة ويبدو أنها مسكونة حسب ما سألت البعض هناك

Mosque beside them, it’s telling the difference in time between it and the houses around

مسجد بجانب هذه البيوت والتي تحكي بشكل واضح الفرق الزمني في البنايات

You can see in the background how some old houses being demolished and some still holding, oh the kids are just following me!

في الخلفية يتضح وجود بيت قديم مهدوم وبيت مجاور له لا يزال متماسك! أوه الأطفال كانوا يتبعونني

As I entered more inside the area, I run across these nice people who welcomed me more on photographing them and the place

بعد أن دخلت أكثر إلى داخل الحي، واجهت هؤلاء الأشخاص الطيبين الذين رحبوا بي أكثر بتصويرهم وتصوير المكان حولهم

Some of the residence inside the area, you can clearly see the mountains in the back ground in both photos which makes it unique to any other areas that I captured before

بعض السكان داخل الحي، بالإمكان رؤية الجبال خلف البيوت في الصورتين وهذا يجعل هذا الحي مميز أكثر من أي حي اخر قمت بإلتقاطه

The never ending hand story, I’m saying this because I already encounter it so many times!

قصة الأيادي التي لا تنتهي، أقول ذلك لأنني مسبقاً شاهدتها في مدن اخرى وبشكل متكرر!

One of the odd things that I didn’t see a lot of women outside walking, that’s something different

الشيء الغريب أنني لم أشاهد النساء يمشون في الحي كما هو معتاد في مثل هذه الأحياء، شيء مختلف هنا

This is something I was happy to see, that some are working to keep the traditional houses like it is, even if it’s in an area like this. The top of wall are unique to the city’s history, they are just beautiful!

شيء كنت سعيداً لرؤيته، أن البعض ما يزال يعمل من أجل أن يحافظ على المنزل بشكل التقليدي والتراثي في حي كهذا. المنطقة العلوية من الجدار هي جزء من تاريخ هذه المدينة، حقاً جميلة!

Some portraits of people who live here, they all said that they lived here their entire life. Oh did I say that they were so nice to me? I wish I have the time to go back to see them again
