Today’s post is from the birds market in Dammam which is a weekly market that takes place every Friday, I previously visited and posted about this market in this project (Day 53 – Dammam) the market starts before sunrise early morning and gets really crowded after a few hours and continues until noon, the market uses a car park space for the main birds seller, beside that space there are narrow streets which sellers use them to sell different kind of stuff (almost anything). Because of COVID19 everything stopped for months and people of the market are relieved that it starting to get back slow and of course carefully.
تدوينة اليوم من سوق الطيور في الدمام وهو سوق أسبوعي يقام كل يوم جمعة، قمت سابقاً بتصوير ونشر عن هذا السوق في المشروع (اليوم ٥٣ – الدمام) السوق يبدأ قبل شروق الشمس في الصباح الباكر ويصبح أكثر إزدحاماً بعد ساعات قليلة ويستمر حتى وقت صلاة الجمعة، السوق يستخدم مساحة مواقف سيارات للجزء الرئيسي من السوق والمخصص غالباً للطيور وبجانبه ممرات الشوارع الضيقة والتي يستخدمها البائعون في بيع مختلف الأشياء. بسبب جائحة الكورونا كل شيء توقف لشهور والان أصحاب السوق سعيدين بعودته ببطء وبالطبع بحذر.

Hello all, finally after curfew from COVID19 is over and the weather is starting to cool off I’ve started to get back into street photography and for the Street Life in Saudi Arabia Project so I had the chance to visit the capital city Riyadh to visit a new market which is the bird & pet weekly market in Friday which is usually start after Asr preyer located South of Riyadh, it was interesting to see more animals aside from always seeing birds (mostly pigeons) they were lots of kind of dogs & cats, also some baby monkeys.
مرحبا جميعاً، أخيراً بعد انتهاء الحظر بسبب جائحة الكورونا والأجواء أصبحت أقل حرارة بدأت بالعودة لتصوير حياة الشارع وللتصوير لمشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية لذا كانت لدي الفرصة للذهاب للرياض لزيارة سوق جديد وهو سوق الطيور والحيوانات الأليفة الأسبوعي في يوم الجمعة والذي يبدأ عادة من بعد صلاة العصر وموقعه في أقصى جنوب الرياض، كان الأمر مثيراً للاهتمام بالنسبة لي رؤية الحيوانات الأليفة أكثر من الطيور (معظمها طيور الحمام) كان هناك الكثير من الأنواع من الكلاب والقطط وكان أيضاً هناك بعض القردة الصغيرة.
Continue reading “Day 79 Riyadh – Birds Market”So I decided to go out at night for street photography for the first time in a while, I wanted to make my final results in color using the lights around in the streets & buildings, I went for the Dammam Central Market walked around for an hour, not quite happy with the results as I tried to play a little with the editing in Lightroom in order to reach different lights & colors.
قررت الخروج للتصوير حياة الشارع ليلاً للمرة الأولى منذ فترة طويلة، كنت أهدف إلى اخراج صور ملونة مستخدماً اضاءات الشوارع والمباني والمحلات، ذهبت إلى سوق الدمام وسط المدينة واخذت جولة هناك لقرابة ساعة تقريباً، لست سعيداً جداً بالنتائج حيث حاولت أن أتلاعب قليلاً بإعدادات المعالجة في برنامج اللايتروم لكي أصل إلى اضاءات وألوان مختلفة قليلاً.

At the end of May and before ending out the long curfew, the government in Saudi Arabia had issued an announcement saying that it’s illegal to go out in public without wearing a mask to cover the the mouth & the nose during the pandemic of COVID19, so I had the thought to document this my way since I like taking portrait from stranger people in the streets and it come cross my mind, what’s it like to capture a portrait without seeing the whole face, what expression will the subject will give, how will it appear & how will effect the viewer? Of course because of the mask there is first thing that will be noticed are the eyes.
في أواخر شهر مايو وقبل انتهاء فترة الحظر الطويلة، أصدرت الحكومة في السعودية قراراً في ظل جائحة فايروس كورونا ينص على أن الخروج من المنزل بدون لبس الكمامة التي تغطي الأنف والفم هو مخالف للقانون، لذا كانت في مخيلتي فكرة لتوثيق ذلك بطريقتي بما أنني أحب إلتقاط البورتريهات لناس غرباء من الشارع وجاء في ذهني، كيف هو الأمر إلتقاط بورترية بدون رؤية الوجه كاملاً؟ ما التعابير التي سيقوم الشخص بإظهارها وكيف ستكون؟ كيف سيكون تأثير الصورة للمشاهد؟ بالطبع مع وجود الكمامة الشيء الأول الذي سيكون بارزاً في الصورة هو العينين.

On Monday 16th of March 2020 the Eastern Province Municipality in Saudi Arabia decided to close all malls, open major market on the main streets & central of the cities with the exception of grocery stores, pharmacies & restaurants due to the Coronavirus outbreak in the country to prevent more spread, on Thursday 19th of March I visited Dammam Central Market at 04:00 pm which is usually consider a very active time on this day because it’s the beginning of the weekend, but the streets were almost empty, people just passing by the different closed shops and some sellers are just sitting by their closed shop drinking tea & chatting with others in this free time which is killing them.
في يوم الإثنين ١٦ مارس ٢٠٢٠ قامت أمانة المنطقة الشرقية في السعودية بقرار إغلاق المجمعات التجارية والأسواق الشعبية المفتوحة وعلى بعض الشوارع الرئيسية وسوق وسط المدينة لجميع مدن المنطقة مع إستثناء محلات المواد الغذائية والصيدليات والمطاعم وذلك بسبب وباء فايروس الكورونا المنتشر عالمياً وفي البلاد، في يوم الخميس ١٩ مارس ٢٠٢٠ الساعة ٤ مساءً قمت بزيارة سوق وسط المدينة والذي يعتبر من أوقات الذروة في هذا اليوم كونه بداية عطلة الأسبوع ولكن الشوارع كانت شبه خالية، الناس عابرون للمحلات المختلفة المغلقة وكان هناك بعض الباعة الجالسون بجانب محلاتهم المغلقة يشربون الشاي ويتحادثون مع بعضهم في ظل الفراغ القاتل.
