Jazan & AlBahah road trip with my brother

So Last year in order to finish my Street Life in Saudi Arabia project I had to go to a trip to Jazan Region which is located in the south-west of Saudi Arabia, one of my brothers decided to come along in this road trip which took us almost 18 hours from Dammam to Jazan city (with a couple of stops to rest & eat) we were discovering some sightseeing aside from the places I went to photograph for my project Some of the sightseeing were AlFaifa mountains & Farasn Island in Jazan Region, AlSoudah mountain in Asir Region and an ancient village in AlBahah in our way back, the photos will be posted in chronological order. مرحبا مرحبا .. مرحبا. السنة الماضية اكتوبر ٢٠١٦ ولكي أنهي مشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية قررت الذهاب في رحلة تصوير إلى منطقة جازان والتي تقع جنوب غرب السعودية، أحد أخواني قرر الذهاب معي في هذه الرحلة والتي استغرقت ١٨ ساعة عن طريق السيارة من الدمام إلى مدينة جازان (بعد عدة توقفات للراحة والأكل) أثناء الرحلة وبشكل جانبي عن أهدافي في المشروع كنا نقوم بإكتشاف بعض المعالم الموجودة في المنطقة وكانت اجمالاً هي جبال فيفا وجزيرة فارسان في منطقة جازان، جبل السودة في منطقة عسير وقرية أثرية في منطقة الباحة في طريق عودتنا، سأقوم بوضع الصور بالترتيب الزمني للرحلة. Extracting Oil the old way from Jazan

When I was on the road from Jazan to Abha I saw in the sideways camels circling around blindfolded with men guiding them. So I stopped my car and it turns out that they are extracting  oil by grinding it, the camel circle around pulling the wooden lever hooked to him plus a big rock in his back so he moves slowly,  all that attached to a pole of wood which is crafted especially for this task and this pole moves as the camels circle in a big wooden pot also especially crafted for this, it turns slowly for hours and grind the seeds into oil called (Smsm Oil) used either for food or healthy choices for woman which is very common in the Southern Region. Another amazing thing that the camel can move & stop by a sound that the owner make which something impressive!

Camels from the Desert of Riyadh

Hello all, something quick to share with you, when I return from a road trip I keep my eyes on the desert and try to see unique sights of camels in the open field, this is one of them and it was almost noon but still I loved the results. Hope you like them!

Arafah unseen – Photojournalism

These photos are from when I first started photographing so my skills wasn’t that good in capturing good scenes, plus I carried I tele-photo lens which didn’t help a lot. The following photo were taking during for some people in AlHajj Rituals in Arafah Day, I didn’t take a lot photo because I was tired myself! So they only represent a small percentage in what Arafah really like & believe there were a lot worst scenes then you can imagine.

هذه الصور وإن كانت قليلة وغير متوسعة كانت من أول سنة من بدايتي في التصوير لذلك مهاراتي في التصوير وإلتقاط المشاهد من حولي لم تكن جيدة أبداً، بالاضافة أنني كنت أحمل عدسة ذاب بعد بؤري بعيد وهذا لم يساعدني. هذه الصور ملتقطة لبعض الأشخاص بشكل قريب في موسم الحج في يوم عرفة، لم أصور كثيراً لأنني كنت أيضاً متعباً ومرهقاً من السير! هذه تمثل نسبة بسيطة جداً جداً مما تبدو عرفة ولا نراها عادة وهناك الكثير من المشاهد التي تعتبر صادمة عند رؤيتها.

AlQarah Mountain – iPhone version

Last month I went to Alhasa, usually I go there for 1 day only but this time I spent a couple of days so it was a perfect opportunity to go out early in the morning and head stright for the famous AlQarah Mountain which is located East of AlHasa. I choose to explore the upper part of it and since there was already a road stright to the top exist it was no problem getting up. I walked up there for an hour & half, here’s some iPhone photos that describe my scene.

الشهر الماضي ذهبت إلى الاحساء وأمضيت هناك عدة أيام وكانت فرصة مناسبة أن أخرج في الصباح الباكر للتصوير فتوجهت مباشرة إلى جبل القارة الشهير والذي يقع في شرق الأحساء. اخترت أن أقوم باستكشاف الجزء العلوي وبما أنه كان هناك طريقاً جاهزاً يوصلني مباشرة للقمة لم تكن هناك مشكلة في ذلك. مشيت قرابة الساعة والنصف هناك وهذه بعض الصور الأيفونية التي تصف ما شاهدته

4 years ago – India

Today happens to be the same day that I travelled to India in a photography trip 4 years ago! Oh it feels like the years just went like fast. Anyway I wanted to share this with you all, on that day I’ve went on a 10 days trip with 2 of my friends Hesham AlHumaid & Ahmad AlSaif to Rajasthan – india to 5 different cities focusing on street & peoples life, it was my first photographic trip and it happens to be in this amazing country. I’m saying it’s amazing because when I got back Home, I really wanted to do another trip there, sadly for my own reasons I couldn’t do that, maybe I’m writing this so in the near future I can finally go back, maybe!

Ironically after that year a lot of fellow photographers from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE and Oman started to travel to India also for photography, and here I am been watching them for years : (

Anyway I’m gonna share some of my favorite photos that I captured. Note: I already post Face from India which have lots of b/w portraits check it out.

7 Days to Mashhad

It been almost 4 years since I last traveled outside the country, went to Iran for first time ever in a family vacation for 7 days. Even though this isn’t a photographic trip still I’ve took my cameras with me. Below are some iPhone photos that I captured during my trip.

 مضى تقريباً ٤ سنوات منذ سافرت عن طريق الطيران خارج الدولة، متجهاً إلى إيران للمرة الأولى في عطلة عائلة لمدة ٧ أيام. على الرغم من أن هذه الرحلة لم تكن رحلة فوتوغرافية كما هو معتاد ولكن لم أغادر بدون عدة التصوير. في هذه التدوينة بعض الصور الأيفونية التي إلتقطتها ونشرت بعضها في الانستغرام خلال رحلتي.

Happy Eid 1436/2015

It’s been 5 years now since I’ve gone Makkah to do pilgrims myself, back then I was just getting started with my photography but I still took my camera with me to Makkah. The funny thing is that the one & only time I took my camera to the Holy Mosque ( AlHarm ) was the Canon 400D with Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM ! I dunno what was in my mind, but I was able to take inside and capture at least one shot that I was aiming for and published in that year.

This is photo is another angle, but I didn’t like it a lot because of the white cloth that covers the Kaaba and I’ve added the previous photo that I publish re-edited. And Happy Eid everyone!

مضت الأن ٥ سنوات منذ ذهابي إلى مكة لأداء فريضة الحج، في ذلك الوقت كنت حديث العهد مع هواية التصوير ولكن مع ذلك لم أغادر بدون كاميرتي. الشيء المضحك والعجيب أنه المرة الوحيدة التي أخذت بها الكاميرا إلى الحرم المكي والتي كانت من نوع كانون ٤٠٠ دي مع عدسة ٧٠-٢٠٠مم ! لا أعلم حقيقة ما كان يدور بذهني حين فعلت ذلك ولكنني تمكنت من اخذها إلى داخل الحرم واستطعت إلتقاط صورة على الأقل كانت بذهني ونشرتها في تلك السنة.

هذه الصورة من زاوية اخرى، لم تعجبني كثيراً بسبب الزوائد البيضاء التي تغطي الكعبة الشريفة والصورة الثانية هي التي نشرتها سابقاً أضفتها أيضاً مع اعادة معالجتها بشكل أفضل. وكل عام وأنتم بخير!
