It been almost 4 years since I last traveled outside the country, went to Iran for first time ever in a family vacation for 7 days. Even though this isn’t a photographic trip still I’ve took my cameras with me. Below are some iPhone photos that I captured during my trip.
مضى تقريباً ٤ سنوات منذ سافرت عن طريق الطيران خارج الدولة، متجهاً إلى إيران للمرة الأولى في عطلة عائلة لمدة ٧ أيام. على الرغم من أن هذه الرحلة لم تكن رحلة فوتوغرافية كما هو معتاد ولكن لم أغادر بدون عدة التصوير. في هذه التدوينة بعض الصور الأيفونية التي إلتقطتها ونشرت بعضها في الانستغرام خلال رحلتي.

First Day
In the first day I decided to go to Imam Reza Shrine early before Almagreb prayer and I was amazed of the beautiful sunlight that was hitting the open area which was covered with red carpet.
في اليوم الأول قررت الذهاب إلى حرم الإمام رضا (ع) في وقت مبكر قبل صلاة المغرب ولكن كنت منبهراً من أشعة الشمس التي كانت تسقط على أحد المناطق الشاسعة داخلة الحرم والتي تغطيها السجاد الأحمر.
2nd Day
In this day I’ve gone to several tourist places around Mashhad; chalidarreh lake, Torqabeh, Zoshk and finally the ZOO.
في هذا اليوم ذهبت إلى عدة أماكن سياحية معروفة حول مشهد: بحيرة جالديرا، طرقبة، زوشك وحديقة الحيوان.
3rd Day
At the 3rd day I went to a well known place called Akhlamad which is mountain full of green trees and on the top there are waterfalls, because reaching the top is about 60 min walking, we stopped at the middle of the road and enjoyed the place.
في اليوم الثالث ذهبنا إلى منطقة معروفة تدعى أخلمد وهي عبارة عن منطقة جبلية خضراء وفي قمة الجبل عبارة عن شلالات جميلة، بسبب أن الوصول إلى القمة يأخذ ٦٠ دقيقة من المشي، توقفنا عند منتصف الطريق واستمتعنا بالمكان هناك.

4th Day
I went out in the morning for my first street photography walk, I head in an opposite direction to Imam Reza Shrine in order to see the lives of the people in here and to capture some of the moments.
خرجت الصباح لأول جولة تصوير لحياة الشارع، اتجهت في مسيرتي عكس اتجاه حرم الإمام لكي أرى الأشخاص الذين يعيشون هنا وألتقط بعض لحظاتهم.

In the evening I took the family to a nearby park that I saw during my morning walk and to take advantage of my time there and try to capture some portraits for locals, I managed to take only a few of them sadly.

5th Day
Since the morning walk was success I decided to do it every morning! I walked in a different direction in order to see new places and to explore the area, walking randomly and letting my street instinct lead the way. I’ve used my 5D most of the time to change the routine that the X100s always gave me. And before I get back to the hotel I’ve tried a new way that I seen in street photography and it requires a crowded sidewalk to do and the result were really great!
بما أن الجولة الصباحية كانت ناجحة قررت أن أقوم بذلك كل صباح! وفي هذا الصباح اتجهت بطريق مختلف عن السابق لكي أستكشف المكان جيداً، أمشي بطريق عشوائي وأترك حاسة التصوير لدي في حياة الشارع تقودني. استخدمت كاميرا الكانون فايف دي أغلب الوقت لأغير من الروتين التي كانت تعطيني اياه الفوجي اكس ١٠٠ اس. وقبل عودتي للفندق جربت طريقة رأيتها عدة مرات في صور حياة الشارع والتي تتطلب وجود كثافة اشخاص يمشون في الرصيف والنتائج كانت رائعة!

At the evening I’ve gone with the family to a known park called koohsange which has small lakes and a small mountain which has stairs to reach the top and enjoy the view! As usual I had both my camera ready.
في المساء قررت الذهاب مع العائلة إلى حديقة مشهورة في مشهد تدعى كوهسنجي والتي تحتوي على بحيرات صغيرة وجبل صغير تم تهيئته بحيث يستطيع الزوار الصعود إلى قمته! وكالعادة كانت كلا الكاميرتين معي على استعداد.

6th Day
After breakfast I’ve gone out on the main street beside Imam Reza Shrine in order to find electronic utility stores and ask for camera stores, specially film cameras. I took my 5D only this time to capture both street and portrait photos, after a half an hour walk I’ve found them but sadly they were closed because it’s Friday! “I didn’t see that coming”.
بعد الافطار ذهبت إلى الشارع الرئيسي والموازي لحرم الإمام للبحث عن محلات الإلكترونية والسؤال عن محلات الكاميرات وتحديداً التي تهتم بالكاميرات الفلمية القديمة. أخذت كاميرتي الفايف دي فقط هذه المرة لكي أحصل على بورترويهات إلى جانب صور حياة الشارع، بعد المشي لمدة نصف ساعة وجدتهم ولكن للأسف المحلات كانت مغلقة بسبب أن اليوم هو الجمعة!

Then decided we should go for preyer at noon in Imam Reza Shrine since it’s Friday and BAM! We ended sitting under the sunlight for over 2 hours. The good thing that I got pretty good shots around the place with my iPhone since cameras aren’t allowed here!
بعد ذلك قررنا الذهاب إلى الصلاة وقت الظهر في الحرم بما أنه اليوم هو الجمعة ولكن! بقدرة قادر انتهى بنا الامر أننا جلسنا تحت أشعة الشمس لمدة تزيد على الساعتين. الامر الجيد أنني حصلت على بعض الصور الجيدة حول المكان باستخدام جوالي الايفون بما أن الكاميرات ممنوعة داخل الحرم!
In the evening we decided to go to a big mall called Almas Shargh, it wasn’t that fun walking around a mall to me, but the dancing fountain in the middle of it was pretty nice. Beside I end up with a scene that made me very happy!
وفي المساء قررنا الذهاب إلى أحد المجمعات التجارية المعروفة ألماس شرق، لم يكن الوضع ممتعاً بالتجول داخل مجمع تجاري بالنسبة لي ولكن النافورة الراقصة في منتصف المجمع كان وجودها لطيفاً وإلى جانب ذلك إلتقطت مشهد ادخل لي البهجة!

7th Day
My morning was going great, had breakfast and then took my X100s alone to the street trying to find that camera store address that I took yesterday, after a long walk and many great shots, I reached that store but it was only for new cameras 😦 so I went back by the bus.
Since it was the last day in this country we went to a nearby park just to relax. I took my 5D there to capture some portraits but because I don’t speak Farsi and most of them don’t understand arabic or english at all, I couldn’t convince most of them for a photo, so I got a lot rejection today but end up capturing 2 beautiful sisters with beautiful eyes that seeing them did made my day!
صباحي كان يمضي بشكل رائع، بعد الافطار أخذت كاميرا الفوجي اكس ١٠٠ اس لوحدها لجولتي الصباحية ومنطلقاً إلى البحث مرة اخرى على محل للكاميرات الفلمية بعد أن حصلت على عنوان ربما سيقوم بمساعدتي، بعد مشي طويل وصور رائعة حصلت عليها وصلت للمحل وللأسف تبين أنه فقط للكاميرات الحديثة وليس لديه خلفية عن ما أريد، واختصاراً للوقت قمت بالعودة عن طريق النقل العام بالباص.
وبما أنه اليوم الاخير في هذه الدولة ذهبنا إلى نفس الحديقة القريبة للاسترخاء. أخذت كاميرا الفايف دي لإلتقاط بورتريهات لبعض السكان المحليين هناك ولكن للأسف بسبب أنني لا أتكلم الفارسية بتاتاً ولسبب نادراً جداً من يعرف الانجليزية وبالطبع العربية لم أستطع أن اقنع احداً بما افعله حتى أتمكن من إلتقاط صورته، ولكن في نهاية اليوم تمكنت من إلتقاط صور لفتاتين صغيرتين ذو عينان جذابتين جداً !

Last Morning
Woke up early to do some quick shopping before breakfast, at 10:00 am we were all finished, ate breakfast and ready to go to the airport. Speaking of it, I don’t fly a lot but Mashhad terminal is one if the worst ones! Beside that I ended with a good photos from there.
استيقظت من النوم مبكراً لعمل بعض التسوق السريع قبل الافطار، وفي تمام الساعة ١٠ صباحاً أصبحنا جاهزين تماماً للمغادرة للمطار، اوه بما أننا نتحدث عن المطار أنا لا أقوم بالسفر كثيراً ولكن مطار مشهد كان أسوأهم! ولكن مع ذلك قمت بإلتقاط صور جيدة من هناك.
