Hello all, so today’s blog is from the capital city Riyadh in AlZal Market (check Day 38 – Riyadh to view more about this market) that day happens to be First Friday of the month which they are used to have a big monthly auction specialized in heritage & traditional items, also usually this auction attracts interested people from outside the city & sometimes reaching all the way from Gulf countries.

مرحبا جميعاً، تدوينة اليوم من العاصمة مدينة الرياض في سوق الزل (قم بزيارة اليوم ٣٨ – الرياض لرؤية المزيد من الصور لهذا السوق) ذلك اليوم صادف أول يوم جمعة من الشهر وهو اليوم الذي يقام به مزاد شهري كبير متخصص في الأدوات التراثية والتقليدية القديمة، وعادة هذا المزاد يجذب الكثير من الناس من خارج الرياض وأحياناً يصل إلى دول الخليج.

Day 53 – Dammam

Hello all, today’s post is also from a weekly market which happens to be also in Firday’s, I went to the birds market in Dammam city which usually start before sunrise and gets really crowded after the sun come up specially in winter, the market uses a car park space for the main birds seller, beside that space there are narrow streets which sellers use them to sell different kind of stuff (almost anything). Oh forgot to say that the last time I posted anything from Dammam which is where I’m based in was Day 12 – Dammam in 2014!

مرحبا جميعاً، تدوينة اليوم هي أيضاً من أحد الأسواق الأسبوعية والتي أيضاً تصادف يوم الجمعة، ذهبت إلى سوق الطيور في مدينة الدمام والذي يبدأ عادة قبل شروق الشمس ويبدأ بالإزدحام عند طلوعها وخصوصاً في فصل الشتاء، السوق يستخدم مساحة مواقف للسيارات للباعة الطيور، وبقية السوق يتمد في الشوارع الضيقة المجاورة وهناك تجد مختلف أنواع الباعة (تقريباً قد تجد أي شيء). نسيت أن أقوم بأن المرة الأخيرة التي نشرت بها شيئاً من الدمام وهي المدينة التي أقيم بها كانت في تدوينة اليوم ١٢ – الدمام في عام ٢٠١٤!

Again with another post from AlHasa because I got a lot in my archive, this time in village called AlTaraf, I aimed to visit the weekly market on Friday morning which is usually crowded and it really was since it was winter & the weekend, here are the results.

عودة مع تدوينة اخرى من الأحساء أيضاً بسبب أنه لدي الكثير في أرشيفي منها، هذه المرة في قرية الطرف، كنت مركزاً على إلتقاط السوق الصباحي الأسبوعي والذي يقام صباح يوم الجمعة والذي يكون عادة مكتظاً بالناس وكان كذلك بسبب أنها عطلة نهاية الأسبوع وأن الجو بارد، هذه بعض النتائج.

So I’m back to publishing new posts for my project and I explained this in the previous post here, anyhow I’ll begin with this famous village in AlHasa which is AlQarah village (it’s my hometown village) what make’s it great to walk around in the village is I already knew some, but it all looks different because my mind is set to photograph the place & the daily life, here are some of what I’ve captured.

عدتُ أخيراً في نشر تدوينات جديدة للمشروع وشرحت هذا في التدوينة السابقة هنا أكثر، على كل حال سأبدأ بالنشر من أحد القرى المشهورة في الأحساء بالمنطقة الشرقية وهي قرية القارة (وأيضاً هي مسقط رأسي) الذي جعل الجولة هناك رائعة هو أنني كنت أعرف مسبقاً بعض الأماكن في القرية ولكن كنت أراها بشكل مختلف بسبب أنني كنت مركزاً على تصوير الحياة اليومية والأماكن فيها، هذا بعض مما إلتقطته.

Coal market in Taif – Documentary

When I was in Taif west of Saudi Arabia in my last photography trip I had the chance to visit the local coal market which was on the borders of the city, the market focuses on selling coal & firewood in different sizes & kinds which used in cooking, their sales goes up in the winter because lots of people use if to get warm at nights or just to make tea & Arabian coffee, Also noticed that most sellers are African nationality. Here are the result of this visit.

عندما كنت في مدينة الطائف غرب السعودية في رحلتي الفوتوغرافية الأخيرة كانت لدي الفرصة لزيارة السوق المحلي لبيع الفحم والذي كان يقع في حدود المدينة، السوق يركز على بيع الفحم بأحجامه والحطب المستخدمة في الطبخ والتدفئة، عادة المبيعات تكون مرتفعة في فصل الشتاء بسبب أن كثير من الناس يستخدمونها في التدفئة ليلاً بالإضافة إلى تحضير الشاي والقهوة العربية، كان أغلب الباعة هناك من جنسيات متفرقة من أفريقيا. وهذه نتائج هذه الزيارة.

Muharraq Central 3 – street photography

So I was looking in my archive and I found out that I still had one more photo walk from Muharraq city in Bahrain! I remember that I stopped at the main street with markets and started to walk inside the alleys, I was aiming to photograph the places & the people there. Here are the results.

كنت أبحث في أرشيف الصورة ووجدت أن هناك جولة اخرى في مدينة المحرق بمملكة البحرين! أتذكر أني توقفت في الشارع الرئيسي المليء بالأسواق وبدأت بالدخول بين الحارات الضيقة، كنت أهدف لتصوير المكان والناس هناك، هذه بعض النتائج.

13 Hours on the streets of Qatif

In Saturday 25th of May 2019 a world wide event for street photographers under is the name (24 Hour Project) is held for the 8th year, 24 hour project is an event for documenting daily life and sharing 1 photo each hour in the day for 24 hour. Each photographer begins shooting at their city local time at 12 am, anyone can join the event either with a professional camera or just a mobile camera. This year date was set exactly in Ramadan with an islamic death anniversary (The death of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib) so I went to Qatif, Saudi Arabia to document those islamic lectures held be shia clerks and managed to document 13 hour & share 1 photo for each hour in the same day. Usually I spend all the time on the streets walking, but this time I was moving from one area to another by the car, so it wasn’t 13 hour straight. Anyhow I ended with a really good collection and I hope you like it!

في يوم السبت ٢٥ مايو ٢٠١٩ كان هناك حدث عالمي لمصوري حياة الشارع تحت اسم (مشروع ٢٤ساعة) يقام للسنة الثامنة، مشروع ٢٤ ساعة حدث يهتم بتوثيق الحياة اليومية والانسانية بشكل عام ومشاركة صورة ١ لكل ساعة تم تصويرها لمدة ٢٤ ساعة في يوم واحد. كل مصور يبدأ التصوير في مدينته حسب التوقيت المحلي بعد منتصف الليل مباشرة، الكل يستطيع الانضمام لهذا المشروع سواء بكاميرا احترافية أو كاميرا جوال. هذه السنة صادف التاريخ وجوده في شهر رمضان وأيضاً في مناسبة دينية لدى الشيعة وهي وفاة الإمام علي بن أبي طالب عليه السلام، لذا قمت بالذهاب إلى القطيف في المنطقة الشرقية لتوثيق المحاضرات والمجالس الحسينية التي يقيمها كبار الشيوخ من الشيعة وتمكنت من توثيق ١٣ ساعة ونشر لكل ساعة صورة في نفس اليوم، بالعادة أقضي كامل وقتي في الشارع أتجول مشياً ولكن هذه المرة كنت انتقل من مكان إلى اخر بواسطة السيارة، لذا لم تكن ١٣ ساعة متواصلة. على كل حال خرجت بمجموعة جميلة جداً وأتمنى أن تروق لكم!

Al Mubarakeya Market in Kuwait – Street photography

It was a quick one hour walk in Al Mubarakeya Market in Kuwait with a fellow photographer who I had the pleasure to finally meet him, he’s Bader also known The Rhythm in Instagram and he photographed in this market many many times so it was good to walk with him, I didn’t interact a lot with people so most photos are just candid, enjoy!

كانت جولة تصوير سريعة لمدة ساعة تقريباً في سوق المباركية في دولة الكويت مع أحد الزملاء الفوتوغرافيين والذي تشرفت بلقاءه أخيراً، هو بدر والمعروف في انستغرام بإسم The Rhythm وهو متميز بأنه قام بتصوير هذا السوق مرات عديدة جعلته يعرف الكثير من خباياه وزواياه لذا استمتعت برفقته، لم أقم هذه المرة بالتواصل كثيراً مع الناس هناك لذا معظم الصور الموجودة هي عفوية، استمتعوا!

AlBilad Village in Bahrain – Street & Documentary

I’ve met with a photographer from Bahrain in order to visit an old area, so we went to AlBilad AlQadeem Village located in the south-west of Manama, Bahrain which was originally at some point the capital of Bahrain before Manama, I’ve found lots great scene worth capturing & loved how the people interacted, I noticed that it has farms outside and some small ones inside the area. Here are some the photos I’ve captured.

قابلت مع أحد المصورين من البحرين الذي أخذني إلى أحد الأحياء القديمة لديهم، لذا ذهبنا إلى البلاد القديم وهي قرية تقع جنوب غرب المنامة في البحرين والتي كانت في وقت ما عاصمة البحرين قبل انتقالها إلى المنامة، وجدت هناك الكثير من المشاهد التي تستحق التصوير وأحببت طريقة تفاعل الناس مع المصور، لاحظت كذلك وجود بعض المزارع في طرف القرية وداخلها. هذه بعض الصور التي إلتقطتها من هناك.

Dammam Auction Market – Street & Documentary

Dammam auction market or the regular auction market in the city, each major city in Saudi Arabia has a big market which lots of people tend to sell used & broken stuff on the streets, you can basically find anything here. For me and for some reason about the people in this kind of markets that this is the worst place I can think of to take my camera and photograph, a lot of aggressive & sensitive people toward the camera form different experience in several city. Anyway here are the photos I managed to get from there.

سوق الحراج في الدمام أو سوق الحراج المعتاد في المدينة، في كل مدينة كبيرة في السعودية من المعتاد وجود سوق كبير ويستخدمه الناس في بيع الاشياء المستعملة والمتهالكة على الشوارع، لذا إلى حدٍ ما من الممكن أن تجد أي شيء هنا. بالنسبة لي شخصياً ولبعض الأسباب عن الناس في هذه النوعية من الأسواق فإنني أعتبر هذا السوق بغض النظر عن المدينة من أسوأ الأماكن للتصوير، الكثير من الناس الحساسين والعدوانيين تجاه الكاميرا وحاملها وهذا الشيء من واقع تجربة شخصية. على كل حال هذه بعض الصور التي استطعت الحصول عليها من هناك.
