Jazan & AlBahah road trip with my brother

So Last year in order to finish my Street Life in Saudi Arabia project I had to go to a trip to Jazan Region which is located in the south-west of Saudi Arabia, one of my brothers decided to come along in this road trip which took us almost 18 hours from Dammam to Jazan city (with a couple of stops to rest & eat) we were discovering some sightseeing aside from the places I went to photograph for my project Some of the sightseeing were AlFaifa mountains & Farasn Island in Jazan Region, AlSoudah mountain in Asir Region and an ancient village in AlBahah in our way back, the photos will be posted in chronological order. مرحبا مرحبا .. مرحبا. السنة الماضية اكتوبر ٢٠١٦ ولكي أنهي مشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية قررت الذهاب في رحلة تصوير إلى منطقة جازان والتي تقع جنوب غرب السعودية، أحد أخواني قرر الذهاب معي في هذه الرحلة والتي استغرقت ١٨ ساعة عن طريق السيارة من الدمام إلى مدينة جازان (بعد عدة توقفات للراحة والأكل) أثناء الرحلة وبشكل جانبي عن أهدافي في المشروع كنا نقوم بإكتشاف بعض المعالم الموجودة في المنطقة وكانت اجمالاً هي جبال فيفا وجزيرة فارسان في منطقة جازان، جبل السودة في منطقة عسير وقرية أثرية في منطقة الباحة في طريق عودتنا، سأقوم بوضع الصور بالترتيب الزمني للرحلة. Abu Adel a collector – Story 002

في مدينة بريدة في منطقة القصيم وبالتحديد في سوق الحرفيين الذي تم انشاءه من قبل الدولة يوجد متحف لأحد أشهر جامعي التحف في المنطقة إن لم يكن بالمملكة ويدعى أبو عادل الصمعاني.

In Buraydah city, Qassim Region and exactly in market built by the government for craftsman there lies a museum for a famous collector in the area if it’s not an all over Saudi Arabia and he’s called Abu Adel.

Hello all, this is a start for a new long term photography project which I’ve talked about before here and it’s called Saudi Life Story, which is meant for anyone men or women, old or young that are living in Saudi Arabia ( not necessarily a Saudi ) Enjoy the first story!

Extracting Oil the old way from Jazan

When I was on the road from Jazan to Abha I saw in the sideways camels circling around blindfolded with men guiding them. So I stopped my car and it turns out that they are extracting  oil by grinding it, the camel circle around pulling the wooden lever hooked to him plus a big rock in his back so he moves slowly,  all that attached to a pole of wood which is crafted especially for this task and this pole moves as the camels circle in a big wooden pot also especially crafted for this, it turns slowly for hours and grind the seeds into oil called (Smsm Oil) used either for food or healthy choices for woman which is very common in the Southern Region. Another amazing thing that the camel can move & stop by a sound that the owner make which something impressive!

Table football – Jeddah

Walking around the historical area in Jeddah AlBalad which is the old side of Jeddah city in Saudi Arabia, the kids there always get my attention and some play with table games like table tennis and in this case Table Football which is a miniature of the famous football but in a table and it can be player either 1v1 or 2v2. Khaled & Mohammed are playing against each other in a game they both love and really good at it

Elder’s details 3 – People’s life

An old man I came across in Jubail village in AlHasa, Saudi Arabia. This is someone I met before in my blog post Day 27 – AlHasa for my street life project & this time I saw him near his house in a different cloth, good thing is that he recognized me after speaking to him because our last meet was 2 years ago, I took  the chance to take a few photos in a different way then before.

رجل مسن صادفته في قرية الجبيل بالأحساء، بعد ما تمعنته به جيداً تذكرت إنني إلتقيت به سابقاً في احدى جولاتي ونشرت له صورة في تدوينة اليوم ٢٧ من مشروع حياة الشارع في السعودية وهذه المرة كان قريباً من منزله بلبسه المعتاد المريح والذي يسمى (وزار) الأمر الجيد أنه تذكرني حيث كان لقائي به قبل سنتين تقريباً وإلتقطت له عدة صورة بشكل مختلف قليلاً عن السابق.

Layla in a Southern Saudi Dress

About A year ago my lovely daughter Layla started to have a long hair and difficult for her mother to keep at good all the time, so we decided to cut it in order to have a new look & renew her hair but before that I did a photoshoot for her to document that long hair and chose her to wear a Southern Saudi Dress which I bought from my visit to Abha.

Old Cafe in Qatif – Documentary

Abo Ali rans an old cafe for over 60 years, the small cafe which opens early morning located on one the main streets in Qatif, Saudi Arabia considered to be a well known place among the locals & for some this is their place to meet & catch up for any news, a lot of old men made it a habit to come to this cafe which is manly serve Red Tea for 1 SR in good old fashioned small cups. I tried to show off some the corner of the cafe & Abo Ali while working.

أبوعلي قائم على مقهى قديم منذ أكثر من ٦٠ عاماً، المقهى الصغير يفتح أبوابه في ساعات الصباح المبكرة والذي يقع على أحد الشوارع الرئيسية في القطيف بالمنطقة الشرقية والذي يعتبر هذا المكان معلماً مشهور بين السكان المحليين وبالنسبة للبعض فإن هذا المكان هو للقاء والتحادث ومعرفة اخبار البعض والمجتمع، الكثير من كبار السن اخذت عليهم العادة بالمجيء هنا بشكل شبه يومي والمقهى يقدم الشاي مقابل ريال واحد فقط على الطريقة التقليدية المتعارف عليها في البيوت والمجالس. حاولت أن أظهر بعض زوايا المقهى وعمل أبوعلي في هذه الصور.
