Saihat streets – film photography

Another Series of b/w film photos from a town called Saihat which is part of the Eastern Region, Saudi Arabia. I’ve already documented the lives in these alleys but I still want to try the old school method with an analog camera, these photos are results from using 2 rolls of film. Hope you enjoy it!

سلسلة صور فلمية احادية اخرى من بلدة سيهات في المنطقة الشرقية. لقد قمت بتوثيق الحي سابقاً ولكن أردت التجول بالمكان مرة اخرى بواسطة كاميرا قديمة فلمية والاستمتاع بالتصوير، هذه الصورة نتائج من استخدام فلمين. أتمنى ان تعجبكم!

AlQarah Mountain – iPhone version

Last month I went to Alhasa, usually I go there for 1 day only but this time I spent a couple of days so it was a perfect opportunity to go out early in the morning and head stright for the famous AlQarah Mountain which is located East of AlHasa. I choose to explore the upper part of it and since there was already a road stright to the top exist it was no problem getting up. I walked up there for an hour & half, here’s some iPhone photos that describe my scene.

الشهر الماضي ذهبت إلى الاحساء وأمضيت هناك عدة أيام وكانت فرصة مناسبة أن أخرج في الصباح الباكر للتصوير فتوجهت مباشرة إلى جبل القارة الشهير والذي يقع في شرق الأحساء. اخترت أن أقوم باستكشاف الجزء العلوي وبما أنه كان هناك طريقاً جاهزاً يوصلني مباشرة للقمة لم تكن هناك مشكلة في ذلك. مشيت قرابة الساعة والنصف هناك وهذه بعض الصور الأيفونية التي تصف ما شاهدته

Qatif streets part 1 – film photography

Back with a new set of b/w film photos this time from Qatif, Saudi Arabia. I visited this area more then once so I got used to place before shooting with film, as a result I’ve captured a few good ones from there. Hope you like it!

عودة مرة اخرى مع سلسلة صور فلمية احادية وهذه المرة من القطيف. تجولت في أزقة وشوارع أم الحمام وكنت قد زرت هذا المكان لعدة مرات سابقاً لذلك تمكنت من إلتقاط عدة صور جيدة هناك. أتمنى أن تحوز على اعجابكم!

Busy Gas Stations in Saudi Arabia

Today 28th Dec. 2015 the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced it’s yearly budget which showed what lots have feared, they also announced changing the gas prices and will take effect immediately tomorrow! After hearing the news in the social media the people reacts to this shocking news in attempt to fill their cars with gas before it changes tomorrow and as a result the gas stations in major cities were flooded with cars in several hours and some closed early because the tanks of the station has dried.

اليوم في ٢٨ من ديسمبر ٢٠١٥ أعلنت المملكة العربية السعودية ميزانيتها السنوية والتي أظهرت ما يخشاه الكثيرين، أعلنوا بجانب ذلك تغيير أسعار المنتجات البترولية والتي سيبدأ تطبيقها مباشرة غداً! بعد تناقل الخبر وسط وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي تفاعل الكثيرين تجاه هذا الخبر الصادم بأن يقوم بتعبئة سيارته بالبنزين قبل أن يتغير للسعر الجديد وكنتيجة لذلك محطات البنزين في المدن الكبيرة أصبحت مزدحمة لساعات بالسيارات التي تود تعبئة البنزين وبعض المحطات الاخرى أقفلت مبكراً نظراً أن خزان المحطة قد فرغ.

Saudi Traveler Sami AlTokhais

Sami AlTokhais is a photographer, traveler & explorer from Saudi Arabia, one day he decided to quit his job & take a one way trip to Guatemala in Latin America and from there his journey didn’t stop for 14 months straight! It took him more then 36,000 km to cross & 21 countries to make this journey possible around South America. I’ve met him once before this journey and had the pleasure to meet him a few days ago after coming back! we talked for more then 3 hours considering that both of us are photographers interested in people’s life! Luckily because I was just getting back from a photography trip & my gear is with me I decided to take a few portraits for him in his favorite cafe in Riyadh, maybe one day when he became really famous he won’t forget about me 😀 ( just kidding ). I won’t say much about the details that we talked about, you will have to wait for Sami for that!

سامي الطخيس مصور، مسافر، ومستكشف من السعودية، ذات يوم قرر سامي أن يستقيل من عمله و يشتري تذكرة ذهاب إلى قواتيمالا في قارة أمريكا الوسطى ومن هناك بدأت رحلته التي لم تتوقف لمدة ١٤ شهر متتالية! قطع خلالها أكثر من ٣٦ ألف كم مروراً ب ٢١ دولة لكي تتحقق رحلته حول أمريكا الجنوبية. قابلته مرة واحدة فقط قبل ذهابه بعدة أشهر وكان لي الشرف بمقابلته مرة اخرى قبل بضعة أيام بعد ان عاد من رحلته الطويلة! لقد تحدثنا لأكثر من ٣ ساعات بإعتبار أننا الاثنان مهتما في التصوير وحياة الناس! من حسن الحظ كنت نفسي عائداً من رحلة فوتوغرافية وكانت عدتي بحوزتي لذلك قررت أن أقوم بإلتقاط عدة صور له في المقهى المفضل لديه بالرياض، ربما يوما ما عندما يكون مشهوراً لن ينساني هههه ( أمزح ). لن أقول شيئاً عن التفاصيل التي تحدثنا بها عن رحلته، سيكون عليكم انتظار سامي إلى تقديم ذلك!

Saihat Martyrs Funeral – تشييع شهداء سيهات

On Friday night 16th of October 2015 an armed man attacked a neighborhood in Saihat, Saudi Arabia which resulted 5 deaths ( one woman included ) and several injuries which they were participating in a ceremony before Ashura which commemorates slaying Imam Hussain, the grand son of Prophet Mohammad. Later police were able to kill the terrorist on sight and capture his associates, later that night I S I S claimed responsibility for this attack which makes it the 5th attack on the country in 1 year! Last Tuesday a big funeral was held in Saihat for 3 of martyrs.

Loud Art exhibition – Reinterpreting Contemporary

Last week Loud Art group opened their exhibition at Desert Designs Gallery titled “Reinterpreting Contemporary” in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, a total of 27 artists has participated in this exhibitions presenting different type of arts such as photography, drawing, collage, sculpting, the works being showcased with a small note on the side explaining the artist vision plus all the works are for sale. The exhibition will remain open until 29th of October.

الاسبوع الماضي قامت مجموعة لاود آرت في افتتاح معرضها الفني في معرض فنون تراث الصحراء بعنوان ” إعادة تفسير المعاصرة” في مدينة الخبر في السعودية. ٢٧ فنان قاموا بالمشاركة في هذا المعرض في مختلف الفنون مثل التصوير والرسم التشكيلي بأنواعه وفن الكولاج والنحت، الأعمال معروضة وبجانبه ورقة صغيرة توضح رؤية الفنان في عمله بالإضافة أن جميع الاعمال معروضة للبيع. المعرض مستمر إلى ٢٩ من شهر اكتوبر الحالي.

Today happens to be the same day that I travelled to India in a photography trip 4 years ago! Oh it feels like the years just went like fast. Anyway I wanted to share this with you all, on that day I’ve went on a 10 days trip with 2 of my friends Hesham AlHumaid & Ahmad AlSaif to Rajasthan – india to 5 different cities focusing on street & peoples life, it was my first photographic trip and it happens to be in this amazing country. I’m saying it’s amazing because when I got back Home, I really wanted to do another trip there, sadly for my own reasons I couldn’t do that, maybe I’m writing this so in the near future I can finally go back, maybe!

Ironically after that year a lot of fellow photographers from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE and Oman started to travel to India also for photography, and here I am been watching them for years : (

Anyway I’m gonna share some of my favorite photos that I captured. Note: I already post Face from India which have lots of b/w portraits check it out.
