Road trip to Riyadh for 2 days

Well it’s been a while since I’ve taken any road trip at all for myself, and for change I didn’t go specially for photography, I have a calisthenics competition that I wanted to attend and luckily they didn’t have any activity in the morning so naturally I had to take the chance and go out for photography! It was the weekends the first day Friday I headed towards AlBatha area downtown which I already visited & posted about several times, it’s an area you can’t get enough with, arrived there not too early so there will be more people & more life there and because it was Friday most of the streets while getting there by the car are almost empty, I may get asked why do you keep going to the same places over & over again, it’s simple I’m just chasing the unusual things in the ordinary places.

The next day I also had free time in the morning so I went to AlZal market, also a market I visited & posted about several times, the atmosphere is completely different from yesterday since it’s one of Riyadh heritage & tourism spot (I also saw a tourist group there by accident) the market is not that big but it’s full of scenes worth capturing and can get you circle around it over & over like I did.

مضى بعض الوقت منذ اخر رحلة برية لأي شيء كان، ومن باب التغيير هذه المرة لم أذهب إلى الرياض من أجل التصوير، كانت هناك بطولة لرياضة الكاليسثنكس ورغبت في الحضور ومن حسن الحظ لم يكن هناك أي فعاليات في وقت الصباح لذلك كنت متفرق وبكل تأكيد خصصت هذا الوقت للذهاب للتصوير! كان الوقت هو العطلة الأسبوعية واليوم الأول هو الجمعة لذا توجهت إلى منطقة البطحاء وسط المدينة والتي زرتها مرات عديدة من السابق ونشرت عنها أكثر من مرة في المدونة، لا تستطيع الاكتفاء من التصوير هناك، وصلت هناك ليس في وقت مبكر جداً حتى أصل وأشاهد تواجد الناس والحياة مباشرة ولأنه يوم الجمعة معظم الشوارع في المدينة كانت شبه فارغة لذا كان الوصول هناك مريحاً، قد يتسائل البعض لما أعيد تكرار الزيارة لنفس المكان أكثر من مرة، الأمر بسيط أنا فقط ألاحق الأشياء الغير العادية في الأماكن العادية.

اليوم التالي توجهت في الصباح إلى سوق الزل والثميري، هذا السوق أيضاً قمت بزيارته عدة مرات، الأجواء هنا مختلفة تماماً عن يوم أمس (أقصد بها أجواء الحياة والناس) بما أن هذا السوق أحد الأسواق التراثية وأحد الأماكن السياحية في الرياض (ومن الصدف واجهت مجموعة سياحية هناك) السوق ليس كبيراً ولكنه مليء بالمشاهد التي تستحق التصوير والذي سيجعلك تدور حول المكان عدة مرات مثلما فعلت.

Day 108 Riyadh – Residential Area

مرحبا بكم جميعاً في مدونتي، إذا كنت لا تعرف عن هذا المشروع وهدفه إقرأ هنا في هذه الصفحة، شكراً لك.

Hello all, it’s been 7 months since my last post for my Saudi Street Project but here it is visiting a whole new area from the Capital Riyadh called AlShemaysi area which is one of many old areas in south of the city and have lots and lots of traditional old houses that been invaded by foreign residents in the last few decades, although with that some old men who grow up in this area are used to come back and meet up with others is different spots as they are still attached even after leaving the area, also there is a public market which was very difficult to photograph there because of the idea of the market and the usual people who visit there from different nationality like east-Asian people and African people, I walked around for over an hour covering a large area even though there are still lots that I didn’t encounter.

مرحبا بالجميع، مضت ٧ شهور على اخر تدوينة لمشروع حياة الشارع السعودي ولكننا هنا الان مع تدوينة جديدة من حي جديد بالعاصمة الرياض يسمى حي الشميسي وهو من الأحياء القديمة في جنوب المدينة ويحتوي على الكثير والكثير من بيوت الطين القديمة والتي يسكنها غالباً سكان أجانب منذ عدة عقود، مع ذلك إلتقيت بمجموعة من كبار السن الذي ترعرعوا في الحي في صغرهم ويلتقون في عدة أماكن بشكل معتاد بسبب تعلقهم بالحي، أيضاً هناك حراج يسمى حراج الرخوم لمختلف الجنسيات الأسيوية والذي كان يصعب التصوير فيه جداً بسبب ماهية الحراج والسوق نفسه، تمشيت في الحي لأكثر من ساعة وغطيت مساحة كبيرة على الرغم من أنه هناك الكثير من الأماكن التي لم أزرها هناك ولكن النتيجة كانت مثمرة.

Winning The Kingdom Contest!

Hello all, alhumdullah I won in a photography contest finally, with my own work that I love and worked so hard towards it,I participated in a photography contest organized by The Visual Arts Commission which is directly under The Saudi Ministry of Culture, the contest called The Kingdom Photography Contest and the theme of the contest was “We Tell Stories” which is telling a story through a series of images within Saudi Arabia, the contest was clear that it was focusing on the story more then the artistic & technical details in the images which makes it the first time ever that a Saudi contest approaches this kind of area, and that (in my opinion) marks the beginning of a new era for Saudi photographers and how they will develop their skills and visions. About my winning series that won this contest which it was one of 5 winning photo series in the contest, it was from AlHasa about a natural water source & how the local people used to go there for cooling off from the hear of summer, I already published this series you can check it by pressing the first image of this blog, again so happy for this achievement and hopefully for more in the future!

مرحبا بالجميع، الحمدلله رب العالمين هذا من فضل ربي ومن بعد دعوات الوالدة الله يطول بعمرها ويحفظها فزت في مسابقة فوتوغرافية على المستوى المحلي بواسطة أحد أعمالي التي أحبها واجتهدت في العمل في هذا المجال، شاركت في مسابقة فوتوغرافية منظمة من قبل هيئة الفنون البصرية وهي مباشرة تحت مظلة وزارة الثقافة السعودية، المسابقة بإسم مسابقة المملكة الفوتوغرافية وكان ثيمة المسابقة بعنوان “حكايات نرويها” والتي تعني بحكاية أو سرد مجموعة صور بإسلوب قصصي وتحديداً بشكل محلي داخل السعودية، المسابقة كانت بكل وضوح قائمة التركيز على حكاية القصة قبل الخصائص الفنية والتقنية في الصور والذي يجعلها أول مسابقة على مستوى المملكة بمثل هذا النوع من التوجه، وهذا الشيء (برأيي الشخصي) سيكون نقطة لبداية عهد جديد من المصورين السعوديين والمصورين المقيمين في السعودية وكيف سيكون تطورهم ورؤيتهم في السنوات القادمة. عن سلسلتي الفائزة وهي أحد ٥ سلسلات فائزة بالمسابقة كانت من الأحساء عن أحد العيون الجوفية وعلاقتها بالأهالي الذي يذهبون إليها هرباً من حرارة الصيف، قمت مسبقاً بنشر هذه السلسلة في تدوينة قبل سنوات تجدونها عند الضغط على أول صورة في هذه المدونة، مرة اخرى سعيد لهذا الإنجاز والقادم بإذن الله أجمل!
